Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
In england they would shut lines if it got too hot, oh, and when it got too cold and I remember once they even closed off lines as there were wet leaves on them... the most unprepared country everOriginally Posted by Andy B
Well you wouldn't read about it. No work yesterday due to the heat and now it belting down rain so no work today. My missus will call me a dole bludger soon. And to boot I found out this morning when it rained I had a cracked roof tile. Spent half the morning tracking replacements down.

Twas a hot one, damn hot ,real hot, but stupid pushed on . You know what gets ya? its not the heat, its the UV rays I wreckon. Between 1-3 was the killer, 3-5 was even hotter but the sting in the sun not as intense & I got a second wind.Originally Posted by Scooby Steve
Spose it does,nt help being a white honky . Kept taking my shirt off & soaking every 20mins or so+ head under the tap, then on with the big staw hat.
Dont mind the heat if I know at the end of the day I can go home, shower , have the aircon running & drink REAL cold beer.
The plan was running to schedule when at 8.20pm the power went out , the inside temp started to rise from 25, & it wasnt long b4 it was 32. Well thats still better than the 40 outside but it was still rising .
In Melb it was 36 at midnight. I wasnt sleeping too well, so I grabbed 3 Techni ice thingies out of the freezer, wrapped them in a towel & cuddled them to sleep, they were nearly as frigid as the missus .
Cheers Dean.
I think we softies from Melbourne needs some great tips from the people in the hot climate , after 20 plus years i still find it difficult , you guys up there must have a solution , in return we can give tips on dealing with cold conditions
For some reason geoff the temp in this part of the world don`t get as cold as melb nor as hot we call it paradiseOriginally Posted by geoff

Its a totally different heat Geoff, more sticky and humid than down right brutal like it is here. Our climate down here is pretty tough because one day its 43 the next 16 degrees and raining, hard for your body to get use to it. Drink plenty (not beer or spirits), keep your core body temp down as best you can (water on the back of your neck and on your clothes) and try to finish before the hottest part of the day.Originally Posted by geoff

I spent a good part of my life working in Far North Qld and PNG. I can honestly say I would prefer a hot tropical day to what we had here the other day. The tropics can sap your energy if your not used to it but once you get used to it you actually begin to enjoy it. Here in the summer it is akin to being put in an oven. I don't particularly like dry heat.

Bugger me it's hot.
South Coast of NSW it's 42 in shade and 47 in the sun, came home at 1.30 have to go back and finish big mowing this arvo at about 4pm. Hope it's a bit cooler
Have to get Kenny Matthews & the boys to start supplying nappies for you blokes to wear - on yer head !! The old white terry toweling nappies, soaked in water and placed under your hat, hanging down over your shoulders. Like your own little air conditioner - I don't care if I look like some mad version of Lawrence of Arabia - it stops me from overheating.Originally Posted by DavidS

Yep we had that yesterday. Came up all of a sudden too. Lot cooler today though. We only worked a half day yesterday and I had 2 clean ups on today that I have just finished so we get an early mark today as well. I just don't work all day on the really hot days anymore. It doesn't pay to cook yourself for a few extra dollars. I work it so as I have some good paying jobs for the mornings on the hot days or we do indoor work if we have it.
