So much rain down here in Melbourne, have quite a few lawns now that are too wet and soggy to mow. I end up leaving track marks and channels if i try. You won't here me complaining though after the dry spell we had, plus on the positive side it makes pulling out weeds so much easier.

    Yep,
I had a full days total clean up with grass/weeds as high as my waist. Put it on hold and apologised to the client who understood.
Can you imagine whipping and mowing and the resultant mess I would make. Reckon it would have sprayed the fences badly too.
But over the weekend we have 50 to 60mm more forcast with up to 100mm over the Murray River catchments.
So I had a pc book keeping day and felt guilty and still do for letting the client down.
    Cheers Garry

Got up this morning and still no rain. Rang the offsider and said I would pick him up on way through. We are driving to the retirement villiage and it is getting darker and darker. Drive in the gates and down she comes. Speak to the client and tell her we will be back Monday and turn around and go home. As I drop the offsider off at his place there is a bloke next door with his drisabone on mowing in the rain. He is an Indy so we have a yarn with him. He has been trying to mow this lawn for 2 weeks and rain has killed him each time. Got there this morning just started and down it comes so he said bugger it and decided to finish it. At least he got one lawn done.

It's a real winter storm alright. Rain, wind and thunder. I have got the fire going and just put a old fashioned bush stew on for dinner tonight. Have that with the bread I am about to make and dumplings and a nice bottle of red. I have got Slim Dusty playing on the CD. Good day to be in the cave methinks. Just had a clap of thunder that rattled the windows and shook dust from the ceiling. I love these types of storms.

Sounds like a great dinner, Iove dumplings and stew.

Because of your post earlier and our forecast for a big dump. With local SES preparing know flood areas because of our mountain/alpine catchment outflows.

I been up on my big shed roof (this is the fifth time and twice with a plumber to find two leaks) over the past two hrs. Even got a quote phone call while I was up there.

Hard to traces leaks when you have insulation fluff and foil under the roof.
This time I lifted all the pool solar strips and found what I believe to be the problems. I reckon my roof has about 4 cartridges of silcone trying stop these leaks over every bolt, join, pop rivet and flange. One steady drip was missing the LCD by two inches.

So bring the rain on me says to test yet another water proofing effort.
    Cheers Garry

Getting some really good rain. Weather boys reckon we have had 32 mm since 9 this morning but I reckon it is a tad more than that here. Local flooding happening around the place now and they say there is more to come.

Glad I don't live in Omeo....they got over 110mm of rain in the last 24 hours. All that lovely rain falling in our catchment areas too!!

Pity the stupid Victorian government decided not to invest in any new reservoirs, cos of course it was never going to rain again. Lets spend billions on a desalination plant that uses huge amounts of energy to operate but at least means we can charge the Victorians enormous sums for their water. Forever.

Has anyone got any damage from the overnight winds? Spent the night listening to things crashing and thumping. More than a few trees down in our area too.

joanne did you hear the one about the guy in lakes entrance that was denied a planning permit by the goberment because global warming will increase sea level and put his place under water funny thing is his land is higher above sea level than the new desal plant

Government at all levels has simply lost the plot Ian, nothing is more important to them than retaining power, squeezing the masses for every possible dollar (got to balance those budgets to hide the wasteful and pointless spending) and legislating every day life to the point of stupidity.

Wonder how all those capital cities that are adjacent to the sea (so practically all of them) are going to do when sea levels rise that much...gawd they're morons
