just keep the control arms moving like you do when driving a car. back and forwards.
traded the ZTR in on a Cox 32 inch i couldnt get the precision i needed for residentuals. lost $ but thats ok the Cox suits back yards better.

I'd have thought you should be able to get Hydro-Gear filters from just about any dealer. I don't have a Gravely dealer in town, but have never had trouble getting filters from one of the other dealers.

they don't appear to be a "Hydro-Gear" filter on the 34, an unmarked OEM Gravely/Ariens filter #0066930

Hey Paul, That Gravely/Ariens part number looks like it should be 00669300.

If you can't get that OEM filter, this might help.

Looking here http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...y_Hydro_Filter they suggest NAPA 1410 should be the replacement.

Then cross reference here http://www.fleetguard.com.au/parts-search the NAPA 1410 should be Fleetguard LF689. It's 93mm diam x 107mm long with a 3/4" UNF thread.

    Good luck.
