    Default Stander mower

    Hi all,
I know there are a few people now using stander mowers. The little bit of research I've done really seems to come down to a scag v ride or toro grandstand. My questions to those of you who are using them are how are they working out as far as suitability ie using on residential and time saving etc. and are these really the only contenders in Australia. Both these units are 36 inch a 34 I think would be better for access. All thoughts on the subject most welcome.

    Cheers

There is a rumour Hustler will/may be coming out with a Stander, maybe even showing it at the upcoming GIE in the USA. Just hearsay!!!
I believe the best design are the type where you stand between the drive wheels rather than causing leverage behind those wheels.
But, thats just my logic and I could be talking out my azz!

Thing is, manu's use the GIE to announce new designs and equipment. Id be waiting to see whats just around the corner!

l thought long and hard considering the resi lawns i.e. max 36" (might have gone the wright 32 if they still had an aussie importer) but ended up with the gravely compact pro 34

Yeah would of been great a 32. The 36 will fit through most gates but still seems a little wide for my liking. Why do we always miss out down here in oz?? Gravely I'm sure is great but really like the idea of a stander.

Well I ended up getting a wright 32. It measures 83cm at the widest point so should get through most gates. The width was really my highest priority a 36 would of really limited the gates I could get through. I have set it up purely for mulching but can change it back to side discharge quickly. So far I have only done my own lawn and as I have a zero turn already found it fairly easy to get used to. Hopefully this will keep this ageing lawny going a little longer!!!

    Hi everyone that has Standers.

How do you find using the hand levers for periods of time? 1,2,3 hrs daily

More to the point if anyone has hand arthritis how do you find it?

Any benefits or drawbacks you have noticed with your particular model?

With larger decks how do they go with scalping, as you cannot lift the deck with your foot pedal like you can on a ZTR.

Does anyone have a scag Vride and if so what model and how has it treated you?

    Hi
Are standers hard on your knees as well?
Out here in the bush I have not even seen one anywhere let alone used one.
I would think standing up all day would be hard on your knees but could be wrong.

Ohh. If you insist. I'll go & buy one. Can never have too many toys

Will probably get a stander to replace the small ZTR if it ever wears out.

    Hi

Yep their hard on the knees also. The most I use mine is a about an hour at a time. I use it for bigger jobs that have narrow gates. They are a real time saver for the right job but if I was just doing residential I'd save the money and buy a good self propelled.
