There are no batteries in my local shop either. That is odd that they would say that they will hook it up to a laptop. Surely there is no computer on it. The batteries can get too hot on these things and when they do the led lights on the batteries flash red. Various flashing means various things. Its never happened to me but the manual says it can happen.
Ok, will try to keep this fairly short & if ppl want further info, Im happy to waffle a bit more.
Ace saw service has been great & repaired it.
They even went to the trouble of opening it back up & showing me what the prob was when I picked it up.
The hedge that I was trimming was a Monterey cypress (really fine foliage) & small amounts had worked there way into the head causing a micro switch to malfunction.
The micro switch activates/deactivates the running of the machine when the cutting head is folded for storage/transportation.
Ace have told me that they don't know if they can claim it on warranty as Stihl require a part that has malfunctioned.
It looks like the machine failed due to design error rather than part failure.
Anyhow, I am now aware of how the prob occurred. Not to say it can't happen again but, just have to preserver for the time being & if it reoccurs look at modding it with some kind of fine filter so the debris can't enter.
All in all a minor prob & I am still sold on the attributes of this machine.
Tomorrow I will spend 7-8hrs on another Monterey cypress :whip it & see how it goes.
Steveo, not sure about how they hook it up to a laptop, maybe its got a chip? but very impressed with their professionalism.
They also told me that the computer also states it has a load error. They said they don't know what a load error is so rang Stihl Australia.
Stihl Australia also didn't know what a load error is but the machine "seems" to run fine now, so ?
John, go ahead & buy another shindy. Ive been running them for years & they are great.
The battery cutter had a little hiccup, anyone ever had a prob with a 2 stroke ?
Cheers Fred.
i am still sold fred..so a little hiccup but back and running again..how many times does the 2 stroke give the SH one T
I'm getting a bit frustrated waiting for the Husky extended trimmer to be released.
I was told a couple of weeks ago, that it would be "any day now", but still nothing.
There was some talk about them making new better batteries, so hopefully they have the latest technology when they finally do release them.
I was waiting for the husky too , but they couldn't tell me when , so I went with the stihl I'm glad I did, the more I use it the more I like it. when the husky does arrive I would like to give it a try, as I will be able to compare it with the stihl. If it is that much better I will get one , I don't mind spending money on anything that makes the job easier.
I asked about the Husky hedger again yesterday & it has been delayed again. Now they are talking late April/early May.
