Hey guys. I've had an atom 580 for about 6 months now. Used it maybe 5 times. I can't seem to get a neat cut with it. Seems really aggressive and makes about a 1 to 1.5 inch edge. Anything im doing wrong?

Hi Doomsy
Makes a 1 to 1.5 inch edge. Do you mean a 1 to 1.5 inch wide trench? If so you really have a problem.
I assume you have the standard flat atom blades on it. Just a suggestion try a little wonder round (blue) blade on it. Available from Dean. Thats where I buy mine.
I find the round blade gives a better cut then the flat blades.
Cheers

mate I'm wondering if you have the correct blade...that blade should cut a nice edge.
thers two blades ,,,standard 2 blade which gives a good cut to new overgrown edges..following up on future vista using the little wonder circular disc does a great job leaving a nice 12mm straight groove..looks great on nice lawns especially ...practice i guess is the best way to get it right but when u do you will happy with the finish..the thing i love with the atom is its quick and goes around any curve a garden has to offer..
Maybe it's my technique. I'm thinking about recording myself and see if im doing something retarded. I can never see any other blades besides the + blade from atom. Where do you buy them?
is it vibrating? mine started vibrating and put it in for repair but its had 5 years work. If its doing that take it back for warranty repair
I'd take the atom into the dealer and get it checked. It should be fairly easy to check square Ness of cut. Further to vibration. My atom seized up due to being left outside and bearing on shaft rusting and seizing. I pulled it apart , now that's an exciting job. About 20 screws , took photos along the way, new bearing, thin rubber gasket was buggered, so instead of replacing just used a sealing agent. All back together, good as new.
Turns out it was just me doing something. I used it all weekend and it did well. I think if the grass is quite thin on the edges it makes it look bad. But yeah she's going good now.
Also...sometimes concrete "shrinks" giving the impression of a really wide edge :-)
I spend most of my money on beer and horses, I just waste the rest....

I always use the atom on full thottle, rubbing against the concrete.
PS: i wish i got the domestic version Atom, the Pro is a little heavy
