Well after approx 20-30 hrs use mine is at the dealers with a possible broken gear box
Not happy Jan!
....Nothing like a good whipper....
Its been around 2 , 1/2 months Ive had mine now and around 150 hrs work. Still going great. Only thing I can complain about is having to order original blades from masport as the ga spares blades are pressed with the cutting edge the wrong way up. They say its the way they are meant to be but it doesnt take an engineer to know the cutting edge cant be higher than the lowest part of the blade. It would be like trying to shave with the blades upside - down.
hmmm, the cutting edge is what hits the blade of grass first, not sure it would make much difference on a thin push mower blade? l'm no professor of mechanical physics though lol

Are we talking about the bevel of the cutting edge being on the bottom (grass side), rather than on top?
I'm pretty sure the original Victa blades on my mulchmaster were that way, and the blades on new Greenfield pushie are the same.
Defiantly not right . Yes the bevel was on the under side. Even with a brand new set of blades the cut was bloody terrible and got even worse as the cutting edge dulled off. Had the same problem with the blades for an older masport mower so used to get the blades from masport .
I'm assuming we're talking about a 4 blade disc and blades 2.3mm thick
I'm sure the person that led the design for those blades spent 4 years getting an engineering degree and a further 2 years earning honours in computer design.
The entire blade design team were briefed on the design requirements by an ex stripper with a double degree in arts and psychology, during a 3 week orientation seminar at a Vanuatu 5 star resort.
During the orientation seminar, all members of the design team were shown a video (of the ex stripper) mowing an actual lawn .
One of the design team even has a lawn on his summer ranch, unfortunately he suffers from agrophobia and cannot go outdoors unless blindfolded.
To infer these blades are incorrectly designed is unreasonable and ignorant.
The problem lies with the operator who through negligence has used the machinery in an improper manner by running the engine in the reverse direction of which the blades were designed to function.
Due to the gross negligence of the purchaser/operator, no warranty or claim shall be liable for payment.
"Can't" is a dirty 4 letter word.
If someone says "Can't" , take the "T" off the end and brew it.
Sip on a mugfull, relax, and take a look at what you've got left to work with.
Any one else having issues with the new masport contractor mower??
Mine is in the dealer being repaired 3rd time and it's only done around 75hrs work
It's had a new gearbox, the welds on the front axle have failed been re welded and now the right side back axle has snapped
The mower has had a easy life doing short residential lawns
Did I get a lemon or are they all ..
....Nothing like a good whipper....
No , not a lemon I've had the front axle wheel plate fail and rear axle snap on the right hand side in less than twelve months.
