Default Payment by credit card help

    Hi
Hope I write this right, most of my jobs are cash, direct debit, or check, but I've got a new guy who wants to pay by credit card, I'm guessing it's how he keeps track of all his business dealings (his a young dentist). So I go to my bank, Bendigo to try and work out how, they say it will cost me $500 to set this facility up, holy **** batman, as the jobs worth between 200 to 250 a month, I don't see its worth it.
Anyone got any suggestions re this facility, am I missing another way to do this, just thought I'd ask, cheers

Paypal do a gizmo which works via your mobile phone and allows credit card payments which are paid into your paypal account. Paypal charge a commission, but there is no need for the purchaser (your client) to have a paypal account.
You purchase the gizmo outright, but it's pretty cheap (I think the basic one is about $30-40 ).
Do a google search & I think you will find it.

I have started using Wave Accounting (https://www.waveapps.com/). Wave is brilliant and completely free to use. with low credit card fee's. I started using that when Invoice2Go started upping their fee's and haven't looked back.

I had a Square account and it would not activate for me, two much hassle in the end and their after sales service was terrible and they would not help me at all, instead tried to palm me off to a credit check mob saying my details were incorrect in which they were not.

I have since purchased the Paypal Here Mobile Card Reader (https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mp...it-card-reader) for onsite credit card payments and it is great. I may even eventually convert completely to Paypal for all my invoicing as people like the security behind it, and it is quick and simple to set up and get going. And you can send a receipt of payment directly to them via txt or email.

I hope this helps. Cheers Damien

Forgot to mention, Wave has a mobile app so you can invoice on site, as well as at home on the PC. You can set up automatic payment reminders which are emailed out when ever you want them to be, It also tells you when the client has opened and viewed the invoice and when they have payed it via credit card. If they pay by direct deposit you can manually input the that they have payed when you see it in your account.

You could send them a Paypal invoice/money request - then they can use their credit card to pay you.
If you did this often, then PayPal would want you to upgrade to a business account, butt once a month shouldn't be an issue.
Be aware of fees - no set up or monthly fees, but commission might be a bit ugly.

I prefer Direct Debit - control of payment rests with YOU.
I use EziDebit myself - but this requires a signature on a form, but can be left 'open' for future invoices.
Fees - no set up or monthly. There is a flat fee for DD from bank accounts ($1.10), but it's a %age for DD from credit card. Also a small fee $1.10 each time funds are trfrd to your bank.
I choose to absorb fees from bank accounts, but the customer absorbs the credit card fees.

    Compare with other solutions.

There is no such option to revere the payment - however with about all payment methods the client's bank can do a charge-back if they raise a dispute, eg.claim their card was stolen.

'Most' merchants may also charge the business a charge-back fee - perhaps as much as $20 or $25.

Suggest you look closer at Square. The terminal to plug into phone is cheap, no setup or monthly fees, 1.9% of card transaction is fee (much lower than Wave or PayPal)- but no charge-back fee. You ARE allowed to charge a card processing fee that covers your costs.....
Additionally, you can do tap and go, swipe, plug in the chip - or manually enter the card number (phone payment)
