my last replacement 850 was 7/8" x 70mm.....shaft was too long and had to make spacers to lift the engine up

Almost since new, my mulchmaster has had belt drive issues. With cable adjustment I could either get the fastest 3 speeds(notches on the lever) or the slowest 3, but never all 5. Not really a problem as I mostly use the faster speeds.
The correct aftermarket belt is M35, but I can't get that locally and the belt shop tells me Z35 is exactly the same, so that's what I've been using. These belts aren't designed to run around back bends, so they don't last long.

Bought a new belt today, and got a ribbed 11mm belt to try. It fits the pulleys ok and I can now get the full range on the lever. It's supposed to handle back bending better.

It's a Dayco 11A0925. About $17. It's the same inside diameter as the M35, but because the belt sits a bit further out on the engine pulley, the next longer size might work even better... or maybe not.

Will see how it goes when the grass starts growing again.
