In my locality, I'm finding the specialist tree loppers/arborists are taking on Hedging work at times. In my own street there is an example of it at a quality home. I do houses beside and opposite.
He asked me last summer to do it, but I declined due to being too busy and not fussed to do it. He asked for me to do it next time, I asked how much the Tree Guys quoted, $900. I thought about $550-$600 max for the amount of hedges involved, but didn't tell him my thoughts. Asked him was he happy with the $900. Said he was happy with it, I thought it was a was a little bit of a rough job done too.

Have another example where the tree loppers doing hedging and charged quite high figures as their industry charges high rates for tree lopping. So they ask it for hedging.
Because my business includes gardening in my signage, I always get many calls for garden/hedge work as their mower man refuses gardening. I generally say if you want me to do your gardening, then its best if I do your lawn mowing too. Otherwise I'm not really interested. Hedge work involving ladder work I knock back for new customers as mentioned, too hard on the body.

So maybe with so many lawnies knocking back garden and hedging work, The tree guys are taking up some of the slack at there tree lopping rates.

Edit, we have a all female crew in town who knock back hedging. They used to refer their hedging to work to me, which I used to take on. Before I decided to slow up that part of my work due to being so hard on body.
