I'm happy with 3yrs use out of a tool but have been getting around 5yrs and I upgrade. I still have my original Honda 196 (as backup) that starts 3rd pull even if left sit for a year.

I still have my 12-13 year old 196 too. Still has the original wheels but has a new catcher and rear cover. I used to use it to mow my lawn and a couple of postage stamp size lawns, now it just collects dust in the garage. Will probably sell it this year.

Thought my wife would be a short term thing but after 23 years she's still going strong. Dont know how after putting up with the hard work I put her through.

I'm still using my grandfathers axe, dad recons it the best axe he's ever seen, dad said he put 4 new handles on whilst he had it, I've put 2 new handles on it and replaced the head once.

Dad said it would have to be nearly 90 years old now.

I'm opposite to most on here. My Atom edger probably hasn't paid for itself, but I'm glad I've got it. It gets used much more regularly than my backpack blower. I only use the BP blower a couple of times a year at a school in leaf season. For residentials I find the BG86 much easier to use. I could live without the BP blower.

My Stihl FS81 celebrates it's 30th birthday this year. It's done a lot of hard work in it's time but only one season commercially before I retired it 6 years ago.
I just converted it from bullbars to loop handle and it fired up no problems. Haven't used it yet with the loop handle, but it feels at least a kilo heavier than my Husky.

Hang on a bit if you have replaced the head how can it be the same axe. I am confused?

Describing your wife as a tool may not be the best thing for longevity. You've come this far don't spoil it now
