I use the 44" on some flat residential ¼ acre jobs and up to 1 acre. If I've got the big mower onboard, I'll do vacant ¼ acre blocks & 1 acre lifestyle blocks but not resi lawns. Anything over an acre I use the 61", unless it's really feral. My 44" is a tougher machine for that.
It's probably easier to trim drains & banks without scalping with the smaller deck, but the wider machine holds onto slopes better.
Probably not a lot of difference in accessibility between your 54 & a 60". I haven't specced a 54" but I think you'd be able to get the same engine/hydro options at the top end of the range so speed/power would be similar.
Never had anything to do with 72" but I think I'd get a front mount if I ever got one.
Get an EFI engine whatever you decide on.
