I've got one of them... it's really good and has full size chain.
You need the AP300s battery to get the full potential from motor though
There's no way you'd buy a petrol chainsaw in the smaller size range after using this
Apparently that bga86 blower will be coming when they sell all the bga85's by spring
Yeah mate that will be my next saw for sure. My dealer said they were going to have a stihl demo day soon so we can look at all the new gear coming and have a go of it, so I will keep you posted. Do you think that saw would go alright with just the ap300 battery?
I've got rid of all my 300 batteries so can't give direct comparison. Technically the ap300s batteries pump out 2200 watts which that chainsaw can utilise. It's hard to find specs but I'd take a guess and say the ap300 battery would be around 1800 watts?? It would operate the same except under heavy going where the newer battery will be able to push out more power. I'm pretty sure i ran a ap300 in it when i first got the saw and I didn't actually notice the difference with what I was cutting.
Either way you won't be disappointed and can always get the battery later on.
If you run a fsa90r or 130 you can actually notice significant extra power from the ap300s batteries
The blower and hedgers etc run same
The only real con I've found with chainsaw is that chain adjuster which I'm not used to yet and the fact it's actually quiet loud due to the high chain speed .... definitely need hearing protection
Looking back at my purchases I've had the ar3000 backpack battery for almost 2 years now and it still charges and runs the same as new. It's definitely paid for itself fuel wise as I use it everyday

I just got a message from mower shop that my bga86 is waiting for me
It's been 8 years since they released the bga85 and it really was the weakest link in all my Stihl Battery gear.... so will be good to have the new one.
I think this blower would be an ideal entry into the battery world for anyone sitting on the sidelines. It's 15 newtons blowing force which is same as the petrol bg86
It has the battery slot so no need for a cable and backpack battery etc
