A backpack battery that will last all day, that also takes weight of the tool will be a game changer.

I haven't yet Macka, i always though they'd be getting in the way and be a pain to be taking on and off all the time. Be interested to hear the thoughts of those that have. I'm guessing it would be less of an issue for larger commercial jobs but i can see for ressies it could become annoying real fast.

Exactly scoob, my take on using battery power is it has to be easier and more convenient than petrol. And my hedge trimmers are, I can be working before a petrol machine is even running. But the idea of strapping a big heavy battery on my back then having a cord running to the machine , not for me. I think stihl have lost the plot a bit on this as the new machines coming out look the goods but are only backpack powered.

That 9.4 amp/hour battery may be a bit heavier but if you like battery power I think it may be worth it, bloody Husqvarna , I have cash to spend but they wont let me demo any machines around here ,wtf. I saw a contractor using some stihl battery stuff a couple of weeks ago and happened to mention to the dealer that I saw this guy using it. The dealer said straight away yeah he saw me using it so bought some to try out, and is now converted.

Ive seen posts that the heat from the batteries is a problem with backpack batteries packs. Im not concerned about the weight i find my blower is easier and more comfortable to use than the handheld and the backpack is 13kg fueled up.

A extra 10kg is just a big night at the pub and a couple of kebabs,

Bought the blower, went with the stihl only because I already have some batteries. Not as powerful as petrol , but not far off , nowhere near a backpack but thats not why I bought it. For small jobs its perfect . The job is done before the petrol one would be running. It does chew the juice though, if you could get at least an hour out of a battery it would be awesome.

Was talking to an Aus post guy yesterday he was driving a 3 wheeled trike / bike brand new . He told me it was the first one in town battery powered , 10 hours run time , he said it was much better than the postie motor bike, I was hedge trimming and he started to ask about my battery hedge trimmer told him how good it was. The posties have had the battery powered push bikes for ages.

Gas no more in Australia but when i was recently in Europe I notice LPG is still being used so its still viable in a country that produces no gas of its own.
