Only a light duty trimmer but another benefit I realised is we could start work at 8am on a Saturday trimming a long hedge at one of our schools. Previously it would have to be 9am + and even then with 2 petrol trimmers going at 9am the neighbours would probably not be impressed.

Will get into the bigger Stihls, or Huskies, or others eventually
    Ok great
will check them out when there next

    bought the HLA 65 hedger

just a thought that comes to mind.... what happens when the hedges are wet or it starts to rain and you need to finish off a job
how does the hedger cope with that???

    thanks
This was also a consideration of mine
Was told it would be ok, & it has been.
Have had water "streaming" over the motor (which really concerned me) without a prob, has never stopped due to water.

Cant wait to hear your thoughts after a few runs with it.
Bet its your second fav bit of gear ...... behind the BT.

    Cheers Fred.

Got up this morning and thought I top up the battery before I left home

One solid red light. - battery too cold

I had left in the back of the ute (with a canopy) overnight
Temp here was a balmy -3 overnight according to BOM....must have been warmer as no frost on the car

    Anyone else been caught out?

Must say it did an awesome job today...and battery still had 40% left when I got home

Why did you get out of bed ? ........ lol.
Better tuck it in tonight ....... -4

Bt,s going great, goes in for a suspension lift in a couple of weeks, too low on the tracks with such a long wheel base.
Do you use alpine fuel, fuel additives or kero in your diesel when it gets so cold to prevent diesel jelling ?
How do most ppl,s cars in Canberra batteries hold out in sub zero temps ?

    Cheers Fred.

Brought the trimmer inside last night , the wife said get it out of the bedroom

Just use regular diesel, seems to be fine and never had an issue

See plenty of flat batteries in winter. I do plenty of kms each day so guess mine gets a good charge

How high is the lift you are getting?

The lift is a standard 2" lift which will keep it legal & not put a lot of extra stress on the cv,s.
Also, my wife who is only 5' tall & drives it 90% of the time isn't that happy about the lift anyhow ...... .....

    Back to the thread.
Worked the hla 65 in wet conditions again today, no probs.
Also, you don't need to take the cutter to bed with you, only the battery.

    Cheers Fred.

I haven't been game to use mine in the rain. Those cooling fins on the side of the battery look like a great spot for rain/moisture to get in as there is a nice little gap between the battery and the unit itself. Can't imagine all that water doing much good in there over the long term.

Always think about getting 2" lift.....should just do it

I can hide the battery in bed easy! Thanks for the tip

Great news about being able to use in the wet

Let us know what you think of the 85, I have only given mine a go on a small hedge that is usually done with the 65 . The big ones are waiting

Having a look at what "4 Gardens " saying he picked up a HLA 65 hedger i thought i'd have a look to see what it looks like on a google search and came across this vid.I'm impressed and thinking why would i want to use a 2 stoke when something like this would be so much easier and it's not expensive

I have seen that before beetle its a good review, one thing that guy says, and I'm sure Fred would agree , the more you use it ,the more you like it. I wish this stuff was around 15 years ago maybe my body would be in better condition.
