I really think I'll have to get 8x6 as my truck is long enough as it is.... and I live in inner suburbs lol

My truck is about 2.3 meters tall all round i think that ramp will not stick up higher... is that the reason you don't like the ramp?
I assumed that ramp would be most sturdy and safe / convenient way of unloading?

What's involved in tilting a trailer?
Ok at that weight you're probably better with a tandem. Mine is just over 700kg full of fuel.

The ramp probably won't worry you so much with a truck. I just don't like all of that weight right at the back of the trailer. Also, it would have to catch a lot of wind and affect fuel consumption.

Here's a vid I did a few years ago when trying to sort out my tilt trailer.

I'm burning through about 20 litres per 100k's so hopefully a trailer won't make much difference

I assume the tilt trailer locks down at the front once loaded somehow?

Do most ppl use ratchet tie downs for ztrs?

On my grandstand I have chains with a ratchet load binder and a turnbuckle on other side.

Would be pretty convenient if could use a load binder on each side directly connected without excess chains etc... guess would just need tie down points in right spots

Yes mine has 2 over centre catches at the front and a fixed bolt with a wing nut to keep it down.

I use Fast Straps around the back wheels to secure the mower. Not sure if you can get them in AU, or if they are strictly legal here, but everyone uses them in USA.
They are rated at 360kg each, so you'd still have to put a strap at the front for 1000kg machine.

Does anyone know where to get those orange poles that stick out of each side on a small trailer?
To help with visibility? Often seen on trucks towing chippers as they are usually not seen in mirrors

I've found these but cost is about 150 aud to get 2 here
