    Default General Advice

    Hello all
I'm about to take on a lawn mowing round in Myrtleford containing 33 customers, just seeing if anyone has any advice or tips to assist in being successful. Cheers

Welcome jjobr, sounds like you bought a round, I'm in the North East as well but closer to NSW.
Pray for rain over Jan/Feb as we get the 40+deg everyday, otherwise there becomes a slight slow down during that time.
This Thursday's rain forecast should keep the current strong momentum going, but Myrtleford/Happy Valley gets its fair share of rain.
Myrtleford, what a lovely place, we like taking the Jayco to the C/Park there in Feb for a week during the mentioned slow down. Cold beers at the Buffalo Pub front bar - yum.
You have know doubt your have read the forum a fair bit.

Also if your working semi rural out of the main inner town circle, carry your compulsory 9kg Fire Extinguisher as we are now in the declared fire season as of a couple of days ago. Plus don't mow them on total fire ban days.
I got the water rechargeable one from Kelly's in Wodonga. You snap connect the water hose on it, turn on water at full pressure and it recharges for free. I have used it twice so far on. But its heavy to carry, but necessary.
I'm actually heading out to a near all day Farm/Ranch job right now near Indigo Valley. Love talking to the many Cows, when i'm on the ride-on they think I have bails of hay and come running to me for a feed. No sheep on property - so no sheep jokes.

Enjoy the country lifestyle us mowing guys have here in the North East.
    Cheers Garry

A good tip.......learn to price your jobs right. Find out what your opposition is charging, price check if you have to. One of the most important parts of your business. I just price checked my area wow talk about going back in time.

Someone who lives in Adelaide asked me to do his house 3 weekly. He asked me to get the key for his house. Any advice in regards to payment thing? Seems dodgy

I'd do it if the conversation sounded genuine and get paid per cut through d/debit.

I got about 25 customers using this payment system.
I supply my banks BSB number which identifies which branch it is
A bank account number and i tell them the name of the account holder eg. could be your name or trading name.
To make sure you get it right give your bank a call or go into a branch and ask them those numbers you'll need to supply,it's effective immediately for payments to get sent to you.
You can go online and check what payments have been transferred to you
