    Default Just 3 knots

    Bowline, Truckies hitch, constrictor knot.
Covers pretty much all our general requirements ..... right ?
Honourable mention to Clove hitch, Timber hitch, Sheet bend, Sheep shank & Highway mans hitch.

Anyone got a favourite for any particular purpose ?

    Cheers Fred.

Same... clove & half hitches & truckies hitch. Except I do mine differently (learnt off an old truckie that had a fleet of trucks too )

But more & more using ratchet straps & bike tie down straps.

Poor old Scotty, I think he got his half & clove hitches mixed up ... lol.

I think you can tie a truckies hitch as many ways as you can tie a loop in a line.
Doesn't really matter as long as the loop is totally secure.
The loop becomes a pulley which gives you the mechanical advantage which makes the truckies knot such a handy knot for tightening down.

So many knots out there that achieve the same purpose.
I just thought that these 3 were simple & would suit the almost every general situation ?

    Cheers Fred.

agree, I use the fg for everything from 4lb to 60 lb .
Honorable mention for an alberto knot if I am in a rush using 15lb or less.

Running Bowline is a good one if want to lower branches down or pull trees over
