12 years is a very good run out of any piece of gear! If you liked it, why not buy another Tanaka?

I'd personally be looking at an Echo if you need umph.

l'd buy the same one again if l could.......it seems though that Tanaka have declined in quality since being bought out by Hitachi (l bought a whippy a few years ago & its a dog)

Will check out the Echo, cheers

I have a redmax7500 which is a Husky 570 but red with apparently less comfortable shoulder straps I can't fault it
when I bought it I was tossing up between it and the 8500/580 the 7500 won because while it had lower air volume it had higher velocity the higher velocity is I believe better for moving gum leaves on concrete also i could get parts and work done here as at the time Husky only had the 570 available in Australia, I bought the redmax on ebay from the U.S when we had parity and with shipping it cost me just over 1/2 the price of the Husky
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
