Only the Rover self propelled with a fully wide chute is the Rover brand

I have the Rover 960 for the few lawns that I catch. At present, mowing at 10 days max and try to organise to catch them after about 11am.
Have the Victa Mulchmaster and it will struggle early in the morning just side throwing some of my sh!tty lawns.

    hi Scotty,

MY honda's "HRU216M2" are great, never block. Long wet grass or long thick kikuyu. they pack the grass in tight

they do need a few basic changes from new, as standard setup they are useless.

Up the revs to aleast 3600rpm. I run 3800rpm that comes back to about 3600 when in drive and cutting thick stuff.

    4 high lift blades.

Get the full cloth catcher bags, the thin ones you can see threw, the Honda bags are useless not enough airflow I have 2 brand new ones that have never mowed a lawn

If you have the blade break model the Blade clutch will start slipping as the cable streatchs and clutch wears, when the clutch slips the blades slow down and chute blocks immediately. Keep Blade cable adjusted tight.

Unfortunately none of the Honda HRU216 mods worked for me,they still got clogged. My Rover 560 would occasionally get clogged up being a full open chute.

I've changed over to the Rover Procut 960 for the last few months. Had some rain lately and have to say the machines not bad on the wet long grass. Granted you may need to make a couple passes on the really long stuff and clear the chute occasionally, but way better than the Honda. It could do with more power though, but I say that about most machines. In normal conditions I'm really happy with the quality of cut & mulching finish.

honda bags are thick and even with the dust covers removed they still maybe allow a 1/3 the air flow of the cheap see through full cloth ones. The thin full cloth bags that are see through are the only option. If you havent got the air flow out of the bag don't expect to get air and clipping to go into it.
