Thread: New Whippy

    Default New Whippy

Looking for a new whippy for employee. Need probably 26cc+ but machines differ greatly

Can anyone recommend good, reliable and reasonably light whippies they use. It will be used for 7 or so hrs per day so weight is an issue.

It needs to handle 3 weekly growth of kikuyu grass etc. We have bigger machines for the real heavy edging.

I'm very happy with my husky 525lst I think it's about 400gms lighter than but as powerful the shindi T260 and 100gms heavier than the T230 but 20% more power
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

Myself and a lot of guys in my area are running the 525 LST. I'm on my 2nd one with no issues.
Like any machine, they can lose power due to the exhaust mesh gumming up with residue, but thats a easy fix. Just clean it.
A mate had issues with his 525 LST stalling and that was just the fuel cap breather being blocked.

Thanks guys. Will try 1 because 1 employee really likes it. Will take a look at what Stihl has to offer and also the bushranger (if I can get to try 1 before I buy it)
