Mulchers/Chippers/Shredders. - Petrol Models.

Hello,

I am looking to purchase an entry range petrol Mulcher/Chipper/Shredder preferably <$1300 and definitely under $1500.

Can anyone give me any recommendation about what brands/models are the best value.

I have looked at websites on the Masport Bio Wizz - and the Greenfield Piecemaker. The Masport looks a little flimsy with the pastic hopper and warnings about things getting stuck, while I have heard that direct drives (such as that in the Piecemaker) can result is catestrophic damage to the mulcher.

Any information would be much appreciated.

I picked up an excellent deal. Second hand Red Roo 14hp / B&S.
SEt up on a trailer type rig, reg & rwc.
Had been totally maintained with spares. Plenty of power for my use.
I rang the manufacturer and asked about used gear, they suggested a hire place that had one nearing use-by date.
I made them an offer that i would hire it for a day and buy it if satisfied, or return and pay the days hire $88.
i was satisfied and picked up a great deal for $2000
You cant stop this thing with a red light!

Only had the one, an MTD & it has put me off them for life! The angle in the chute is too acute to effectively push branches thru, it used to jam up all the time. By the time you cut the branches up enough to go thru, it took about 3 hours to mulch a Ute load of green waste The Tucumseh engine was an absolute pain to start! No primer bulb. A mate has a Red Roo & he loves it!

the masport is a good machine.dont worry about the plastic hopper its fine.i was very surprised at the power of of this machine.i cant remember it ever clogging up.a mate of mine had a rover which was a bloody ripper

The new chipper/shredder from Deutscher looks quite impressive and at around $1400 is good value

Hi Ian1. I looked up the Deustcher website and it doesn't list the chipper / shredder. Do you know where else to view it?. If it is good as their slashers-it'll be bullet proof!!, Cut down telegraph poles with the slasher and mulch 'em in the shredder !

i have a star brand chipper shredder , it cost me $900 new after bartering with the price has a 6.5hp chonda motor which after removing the guide plate 4 the mulch underneath ( was blockin up ) works very well 4 the smaller stuff i operate a 9 inch austchip @ work but im sure most of you aint got a spare $50,000 layin about in the bank !! any logs 2 big i split up with me cheap chink electric log splitter n goes in me fire when ready

Simon, I will try an attach a picture of one. If that fails. just ring Deutscher and they will fill you in !

hhey Simon , if you're interested in a small chipper shredder maybe you'd like me 2 call in on my way 2 my block on the river & give you a demo of mine 2 see if it suits what you wanna do !!!! be only 2 happy 2 mate , ill be up that way again in the nxt few weeks as id like to get some more tree work done around my block & measure the boundries to estime fencing costs cheers !!

i'd go with a more common brand considering the expense.

I have a Masport but looking to upgrade to a hansa (road trailer) or similar.
