    Default Flymos for slopes

    hi all,
few years ago when i worked for the council in the uk cutting lawns. we use to use petrol hover flymo B&S and honda powered, for doing really steep slopes,(slopes you couldnt walk up) . you stand at the top and and lower the mower by rope and then pull back up . we tried to be clever and swing them from side to side. but they gave a really good cut and made steep slopes easy work. has anyone ever use a flymo ? great for confined spaces.
    cheers Heggie

    Hi Heggie
I think flymo petrol powered mowers are dangerous as hell.Over the the years I have had a few.No trouble on flat lawns with no stones bones etc.I used to use on really wet ,boggy ground and swing from side to side leaving nothing but steelcap prints.

I have had a few close calls on steep banks (wet grass no rope)
I have one in my garage which I don't use much anymore.
One of my client's neighbour lost some toes when he slipped (office worker - no practical sense)
They have stopped producing flymos (tecumseh motor )
Also impellors were expensive -Hit a bone, stone or stick would set you back $70.
With steep banks it is more practical to use a brushcutter/linetrimmer,If you can stand up

While on a job the other day I noticed a flymo hanging in the garage. Must be broken or maybe it cant deal with the overgrown lawns?
Don't think I would like to tackle them (overgrown lawns) with a flymo, reckon they suit the smooth going best .............. Just had a look at their website, seems they make more than just hover mowers, guess I learnt something new,
