I had a crack at this one this arvo. It's my new next door neighbour & hasn't been mowed in the 7 years I've been here.
My shed is just a few metres through the fence, so I'd like it cleaned up to reduce the fire hazard, but it's going to knock the gear around too much for me to finish it. There's 3.5 acres like this.

Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

That's pretty interesting Ian. Haven't seen them being used in an intensive situation like that before. A few people tried goats (and camels) in west Qld to control prickly acacia with varying results, but in free range situation.
I don't think any livestock would eat this stuff as it is now. It's probably 80% dead matter and any green is not very palatable. They might trample some of it .
The Fire Service wont burn it until winter.
Even a tractor/slasher has trouble dealing with it and leaves a mess that's hard to deal with next time it's cut. At least the mower cuts it properly and spreads the debris more evenly so they break down quicker and easier to get through next time.

I did this unoccupied block this morning. 5 weeks since the last mow. Wasn't expecting it to be quite so bad.

Groundhog day today. Same place as above.
I had it pretty tidy in July and no growth through winter.
Sent the owners an email early Oct to pay their outstanding invoice & that grass is growing fast. Never heard anything so sent them another reminder last week to pay the fn bill.
They were terribly sorry it had been overlooked & will pay it immediately. Oh... and could you mow it again before Xmas?

4 hours to mow less than 2 acres- mostly double cut.

I bet you kept the engine running while you are anywhere near that long grass. Don't want to fix a belt or anything!

I came across a snake skin near one of the sheds that made me whoa-back on the sticks. I've seen a carpet snake there, but no browns or blacks.

The Gravely has been getting it too easy all summer mulch mowing nice residential lawns.
I thought I was rid of this client as I hadn't heard from him since I last mowed mid Nov. The place is on the market & he can't understand why he can't get the $$ he's asking.

My oath it would, unless it has very sandy soil. Its almost like its inside a dam.

It doesn't seem to Paul. Any water above the cut-out gets steered around the top & runs away. There's drains at the base and surprisingly, they seem to still work to drain the closer water away. Plenty of slope on the tank side & front of the house for the water to get away quickly.

Old mate wouldn't do much cleaning, but the tiled patio & concrete aprons around the house are pretty clean & don't look like water lays there at all.
