Can anyone ID this? I should be able to but I've just gone completely blank.....

Has a cream flower spike (as seen in the first pic) and points on the leaf tips that would penetrate pretty much anything.

I'm going to recommend it's removal on public liability grounds (rental) in case it takes out an eye as it's hanging out halfway over the footpath too.

Just came back to me. Yucca rigida or Yucca baccata sound about right to anyone?

    It certainly is that!

I'll have to remember the 'tipametongue' thing when real names escape me!

Bloody things should be put on a noxious species list and banned.

Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

That's definitely the flower spike it had.

Under all the mess around it I wonder if it will have the elephant-like foot as mentioned in many descriptions? Have to wait and see if I get the tidy-up job I guess.
