    Default Topiary

I am in need a very good person to prune two large figs into the round ball shape here in Adelaide. The client has had them done in the past and is very particular about what she wants. I don't have this expertise.

Anyone in Adelaide who can help at subby rates? Work required within the next 2 weeks. I need a professional job and no " I reckon I can do that" responses. If you stuff the job she would probably sue.
    Cheers

    Hi Bluey,
You state that you are looking for someone at "subbie Rates" and if they stuff it up "she would probably sue". If that is the case-that you would employ someone to work on your behalf to complete the job, i think you will find that you maybe the one getting sued. My two bobs worth-say that it is not in your area of expertise, have HER organise and liase with suitable person. Then if there are any problems, she will have to deal with it.

most figs are easy to prune, tough as,doubt they would die, doubt a client could sue you if they did,do you have a articulated hedge prunner,or are they to big, easy with a atp to get a round shape, try do it youself, next one will be easier

if you learn to do topiary its really easy and a top rate earner,do some at a good hourly rate, then start quoting jobs at $1-$2 minute, you may laugh, but you can easy achieve this rate, the net, libary and prunning books are good sources for info on what to prune and when, most plants that you will topiary are really tough, they have to be for constant prunning.

beware of being asked to prune old conifer type hedges(like the one i posted) by half,50/50 they could die, once estiblished they should only be clipped to the established shape and size, only.the drought in your area and mine is a big factor,it may be prudent to prune half of plant and half six month-one year later.

diosmas, conifers are the main topiary plants in my area, diosmas must be carefully clipped, not to severe, with sharp blades and fast machine, use protect it on blades to keep them lubed, helps prevent burn on cuttings.we have one that we shape into a sports car shape, magic, working on a rocket shape, conifer.

spent 3 hrs on topiary work today, monthly contract =$200,clipings in their bin,its fun to do and rewarding.

    give it a go

Yep I will try it out but not with this client. I need to cut my hand on some smaller jobs first. It's a bit scary to branch into this but I am willing to give it a go. Just not with this lady as she is soooo fussy and picky.

    Thanks for the advice boys.
