    Exclamation double story gutter cleaning

Got a call to do some gutter cleaning on a double story house today and other than the obvious (need a long enough ladder) could anybody tell me what the safest option would be to do the job and any OHS issue's.
I haven't decided whether to do the job yet as seems a bit dangerous to go diving in head first so to speak.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Heights can be a problem with your Public Liability Insurance also .

You will need a safety harness and more equipment than the jobs worth me personally i wouldnt bother with the job i would pass it on to a specialist

Mate don't do it If you want I can send you some xrays showing the plates and screws holding my wrists yes both together after falling off a ladder pulling some vine off a house. It's not worth it.

You should really have 2 people there. Good long ladder and second if needed. If placing a ladder on roof tiles to get to second storey you must be very very careful (best not to) how & where you place it. When on second storey you should have at least a safety harnness, with lanyard, rope-grab, rope and roof anchor and to know how to use them (height training).
If you are not confident or like me had a few back problems and not 100% dont even think about it
Back in the days it used to rain in Melbourne (6+yrs ago) I used to do them with all the gear and charged minimum $100 to step onto an easy one, the average was prob $150-$170 and I would spend longer setting up /taking down the safety gear than clean the actual gutters. Probably the most expensive was about $250 with gum trees around it.

Be carefull with extension ladders (not only the poss of falling off ) its easy to jam,cut your fingers. Twas only last week when I took a big chunk out of my thumb , the rope slipped out of my right hand & my left hand (thumb) holding the other side took the full weight of the extension (which had a sharp corner ) coming down . It would also be advisable to have someone foot the ladder.
    Cheers Dean.

Yeah. thanks for all the replies guys. I didn't need too much convincing about this job. I figured it would be better off being a job for professionals or at least people with all the right gear.
