Why arent you using the full deck width?
Have heard of some over heating problems with the Ventrac, mainly on slopes. How has it gone for you?

Cant answer our question but let me know when you find the answer.

I will say, its all about "schedule."
If they aint on it, it will cost them!

Good point Mick. Using the full deck width is fine in lighter grass, but when it has been left two or three years and is matted, the 31hp Kawasaki does labour a bit. Using the full width in these conditions would be great if it was an 80hp tractor with a 6 foot slasher, but impracticle with a six foot slasher on 31hp. As for overheating, I was researching these machines for a year before buying, and yes some of the diesels did have problems, namely you could only operate on a slope for a period of about twenty minutes, then had to run on flatter ground for about ten minutes - all to do with oil circulation. That is why I went to the 31hp DFI Kawasaki - operate on a slope all day long - no problems. Pity there are only half a dozen operating in Oz at present, so nothing really to draw comparisons with on the local scene. I am just blown away by this machine - the F series Kubota hardly comes out of the shed now except for parks and playing ovals. The beast is awesome and on slopes, I run out of "game" long before the beast lets go.

    Matted grass sucks balls! ha

I read on LS a guy was having over heating problems with his ventrac but it was a very steep and long slope. I think he went to a ztr to get it done quicker. Hope he's still alive!

I was going to say in my last post that 2 of the 3 slashers I know have gone or getting out of the business. There is a real need for a good slasher here but the out lay is pretty steep and the work isnt consistent enough.
Thats where a ventrac would be good as it can cut nice lawns as well, but Id want or need a much bigger engine than a 31, to use the full deck width!

Anyway, love to see more pics of it working! Im a little jealous to be honest!

How were your arms after that, Brett? Nice work, not easy working on a sunday.
Btw, cheers for the post on the grumpy thread.
