Cut the neighbours side slightly lower so that you can get your top leading edge straight.
What's most important is what YOUR customer see's.
By cutting their top/back side slightly lower, the top will be narrower & you won't have to reach as far over the top.
    Cheers Fred.

Thanks Fred, will do that next time. The neighbors side has restricted access for ladders etc and I forgot to pack in my extension for the hedgie. I have asked her if I can do a good hard prune next time which she will allow where I will straighten all the hedges up as it has been near a year since they were last done, and she done them herself with hand shears before that.

Hey djkgrounds be careful with those fold out ladders. The two metal platforms that fit in the middle are dangerous. A couple of years ago I was using one and a branch from the hedge lifted up one of the platforms (the one I was not standing on) and as I was watching the top of the hedge not where my feet were down I went when I stepped onto the missing platform .. I was so lucky, as I went down I indistinctly threw the hedger away from me. If you must use those metal platforms I would recemend zip tying them down to the ladder.

    Good advice there Fred...

Another good idea ive found from guys doing hedges down here is
to trim deep down into the top of the hedge's middle section. The sides are all that needs to be trimmed on the next visit....
Ive come across some new jobs with hedges that have the top middle section trimmed lower than the the ends...
This is for high hedges tho. So nobody can see the dip in the top.
