I walk through the job a couple of times as if I'm about to do it when I'm quoting it. The customers usually look at me like I'm stalling but really I'm getting a good feel for it against my legs and suss exactly what the hurdles are going to be. Sometimes the grass is quite thin but looks shocking because of it's length other times it's the opposite. I took 3 x 295L bags out of 1 small court yard the other day but last weekend I did a nature strip, front yard and side yard that didn't fill two bags. Both were just below my knee but big difference in density.

Once I work out how to do it I'll put pictures up of some I've done lately.

Totally, people have done it for me, so just returning the favour and passing it on.

P.S. This one was cut and leave from the embankment back, embankment was raked and bagged and nature strip was mowed and caught, path was edged with snipper.

Good work Andy. Was your price inclusive of dumping of plus dumping. I always offer clients the bargain basement price for cutting and dropping it on the ground. Many of them go for that and it is the easiest option for you to do.

This one was a cut and drop, except for front embankment and nature strip. No dumping (filled my own green bin with the stuff from the embankment and nature strip.) It was thick, slogged away with the brushy full trottle, didn't get to the back on the first cut in 2 hrs. Had to stop noise at 8pm then raked for half an hour, backed up the following night by finishing the first cut, than a second cut just below ankle height and mowed front strip and made presentable for council.

Chord 2.7mm, my blades were still packed away when I did the job. Blade would of been heaps faster especially on the tree trunk like clumps. (Blades showed up flat on the bottom of a box of tools I unpacked the following week.)

A lawn I did yesterday. It hadn't been mowed in 12 months - by me - and I didn't really want to do it, but she accepted my quote ($300). Took 2 hours to whipper/mow, 1 hour to rake. The clippings went straight across the road to a keen gardener for composting. Before & after shots...
