some shots of a little landscape project presently doing ..my son in law is the offsider and for a computer geek can actually shovel a mean barrow load of mulch
couple of more shots still some time to go before completion , bloody rain in cranbourne and the clay soil is a challenge
turf or seed to go in bit more mulch and presto
run and rob back yard clean up ...how much??? roughly what would you charge
there was some hand weeding at far back right hand side which took 20 mins ...
Hey Geoff,
I have to prepare my back area for new lawn (kikuyu or buffalo) probably feb/mar/apr. How much Gypsum do you need to add, best place to get it (bulk) and best way to mix it in (rotary hoe?)
Its probably close to 70sq mtrs. Looks like you have had a little experience lately! John
john...theres heaps of different ways with gypsum , myself I would probably hand till the 70 m2 just pick with a hoe and add one kilo to 4 m2 ...the surface has to be slightly damp but you could just water the gypsum after spreading....we bought the gypsum from bunnings its pretty cheap not worth running around for.....you could if you wanted use a rotary hoe but just knick the surface as the gypsum will do the rest...if you have time apply now and another one in before you you add the good top soil...its better to gently apply than throw heaps at the start...this job we applied 2 month prior and its amazing how quickly it works...there are of course some clay soils that gypsum doesn't work ..you have to put a piece of clay in a water jar and shake , if after time it doesn't stay cloudy then apparently gypsum will not work , although i haven't come across that scenario yet .
Mate just chuck it on and let work from there , when you add top soil you will know if its OK and an application of sand can also help
Doing some great work there Geoff, looks like you are putting in plenty of hours on that property.
Todays last job, Starting to get some colour back into it. This lawn needs to be dethatched badly as this is on the highest setting.
Nice one stripes, bet the neighbours are jealous! What did you mow it with? Great looking edges too around that wall etc!
Thanks mate. I used my 20 inch Scott Bonner. There are some beautiful lawns in that street. You can move into the house on the other corner you can see in the background if you like. It's for sale! I used to do it too but gave it to a friend.
Have a look at the pics- and the price...
