I've had a few like that on top of pergolas and frameworks and they definitely take some doing.
I had one like that: a wisteria that someone (i.e. the client) cut at ground level and left a couple of cubic metres and about thirty years of gnarled, dead waste on the carport roof.
Not much fun.
