On the topic of work shirts does anyone think they have ever been sunburnt because of reflection off the hi-vis yellow shirts?
Sounds strange but up until today I've always worn brown or khaki King-Gee or Bisley shirts but wore a hi-vis for the first time today as I hoped it would be cooler. Despite putting sunscreen on three times, wearing a big straw-hat and spending a fair part of the day gardening under dappled shade/sun I came home with my face, neck etc, quite burnt?
Rangas shouldnt be gardeners.
I now wear someone elses high-vis workware on some work sites, I need sunnies as the whole shirt is fluro.
But my own shirts i wear king gee worn wear shirt. i like the feel its not heavy and stiff like some shirts. but as Im getting bigger i need high vis for oh&s.
Ot,Oh...........u might be in 4 a blast!
Cheers Dean.

Hmmmmmmm......and why should anyone else be better. I have worked all my life in the sun. Aint dead from skin cancer yet. Being a bluey...there is no such thing as a ranga...not in Aussie...I take precautions. I reckon more of our olive skin brothers would have more problems than the blueys.

I have very olive skin bluey!! No problems here yet! I cover up and there is a distinct difference from the uncovered arms, neck etc and the rest of the body! Dark dark brown to lily white is some places!
hi to all, i'm still around but have been out of the mowing business for a little while. well after 14 years thought time for a change, well sort of. got a school groundsman job. so still mowing i guess but a heap of building maintenance stuff. although not the best paying job it does has it perks like about 9 weeks paid holidays a year. which you have to make up time for though. still like reading the posts every now & again. as usual i'm enjoying the indie vs jimbo threads & pita's thread. as for uniforms you can't go past fluro imho. now i have to wear king gee long sleeve & pants(oh&s) & it's bl@@dy hot. feels a bit strange posting again but i'll try to post more.
cheers

Have been wearing Bisley light weight long sleeved shirts and long pants. They are great for protection from flying debris from the whippy but have been uncomfortably hot, especially for a sweater in the humidity we have been having of late. Tried some short sleeces and shorts last week, much cooler but also more stings from bits and pieces flying of the whippy. Think I will continue withe shorts though, just to bloody hot and muggy in the longs. Just use more sun screen. Unfortunately it doesn't tend to last with sweat running down your arms.
I need sunnies to look at me own body. Another bluey. Been in the sun me whole life basically....footy, cricket, stonemasons offsider, lawnie. Can't remember the last time I got sunburned. But i remember I got a few laughs in the sheds before rugby games. I was rubbin in suncream while the rest of the boys were rubbing deep heat
