Default Quote with or without GST?

    Hi All,

That will be $45 (inc GST) to do your lawn.

    or

That will be $40 (plus GST) to do you lawn.

    Which way??

    Cheers

With GST because thats the price . Why would you add GST .

Are we telling people thats the governments money and the rest is mine i think not .

But i guess they will say is the price including Gst and your answer is yes .(If your regerstered) better than saying NO plus GST

NO always soundS much louder ,

if i was your customer i would go for $40+gst. it's $1 cheaper

serious though, i say '$45 & that includes the gst'. They all would know now gst is in everything.

A total price including GST must be stated. This was one of the conditions that was part of the introduction of the GST but isn't always adhered to, especially when an invoice is given to another company that can claim input credits.

(an aside) Receipts for work done should also read "incl GST" on the final figure as well...

For domestics i give the price including G.S.T but with commercials i am now leaving the G.S.T off the price. What sounds better $200 plus G.S.T or $220 inc G.S.T. per visit. The $20 dollars isn't my money so i dont include it in the price. Other companies i deal with do the same. If dealing with domestic's and you say $45 inc G.S.T. its amazing how often the next thing they say is how much for cash.

legally the price including GST has to be on the invoice somewhere but as Steve has said commercial properties are more interested in the price excluding GST because they can claim back the input credits. Domestic jobs should have GST included and be the highlighted price because thats what its going to cost them.
