Default If You Are An Australian Be One

Our Country - YOU Have the right - the right to leave !

After Sydney not wanting to offend other cultures by putting up Xmas
    lights.

After hearing that the State of South Australia changed its opinion and
let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her
    face covered.

This prompted this editorial written by an Australian citizen.
    Published in an Australian newspaper.

    Quote:

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some
individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we
have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.

However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the
"politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility
that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration,
nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by
    coming to Australia.

However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only
to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Australians, we
have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own
    lifestyle.

This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials
and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese,
Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part
of our society, Learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our National Motto. This is not some Christian,
right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian
men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this
is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on
the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the world as your new home, Because God is
    part of
    our culture.

If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go",
then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this
    planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, And we
really don't care how you did things where you came from.

This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you
every opportunity to enjoy all this.

But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag,
Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage
you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

    "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".

If you aren't happy here then LEAVE We didn't force you to come
here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.
Pretty easy really, when you think about it.

I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it
will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers,
    lets all try, please.

From the daughter of a Soldier:

Last week I was in Melbourne attending a conference. While I was in the
airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to
    clap and cheer.
I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest acts of
    patriotism I have ever seen.
Moving through the terminal was a group of soldiers in their uniforms, as
they began heading to their gate everyone (well almost everyone)was abruptly
to their feet with their hands waving and cheering. When I saw the soldiers,
probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for, it hit me. I'm
    not alone.
I'm not the only red blooded Australian who still loves this country and supports
    our troops and their families.
Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung
heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to
school, work, and enjoy our home without fear or reprisal.
Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our
servicemen and women a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old, ran up to one
of the male soldiers. He knelt down and said "hi," the little girl then
asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her.
The young soldier didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would
try and what did she want to give to her daddy. Suddenly the little girl
grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could
muster and then kissed him on the cheek.
The mother of the little girl, who said her daughters name was Courtney, told
the young soldier that her husband was a Corporal and had been in Afghanistan
for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter, Courtney,
missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up.
When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a
military looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and
talking back and forth on it.
After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney,
bent down and said this to her, "I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you."
He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
He finished by saying "Your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you
more than anything and he is coming home very soon."
The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet he saluted Courtney and her mom.
I was standing no more than 6 feet away as this entire event unfolded.
As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their
applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very
few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of moment
turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.
We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank
God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good to be an
    Australian.

I lived overseas for 2.5 years. I have crossed the Dardenelles on a ferry, I have stood on the beach at Anzac Cove and looked up at the cliffs, imagining what it would be like to try and "dig in" with a pack weighing in at 100lbs. I left an extremely moving place without taking a photo(It didn't seem right),emotionally stressed but very proud to be an Australian but even more proud to be able to acknowledge the fact that we live in the best country in the world, because of the sacrifice of others.Lastly I have met and shaken hands with a Victoria Cross winner which is a day that I will never forget, and that was over 28 years ago.Every post that you see from me has an Australian flag at the end of it.Proud?? "You Betcha"-An Australian fairwell- ''SEEYA WHEN I'M LOOKIN ATCHA!!"

My young nephew of 22 is currently overseas and was about 30 m from where the rocket exploded in Baghdad about a week ago, injuring quite a few people. Even tho he was in a supposedly safe zone, it goes to show how vulnerable they all still are.

Sure this kind of work that we do can be hard, too, but we don't have to contend with landmines and ammo like they do. We have it relatively easy here...something to be very grateful for
