This 216 i got is pretty old tho. Goes like the clappers. There was hardly any oil in it when i bought it. The bloke said it had been sitting in the garage for up to a year.

Managed to pick up a 215 at the weekend, it was just listed as 'mower'. Only 5 bids, $198. 2 speed, gearbox works fine, no holes in the bag, even 2 spare sets of brand new genuine blades. Pretty happy, considering one of the local mower shops has a 216D (second hand obviously) that has had a service, new catcher and new wheels put on it and they want $1049 for it. As a backup, think I have done well.

Dont worry about it being a backup mower. If it hasnt been abused the motor (maybe even gearbox) will be going long after the others have died. Under $200 - that has to be a fantastic buy

That poor mower has had a hiding. I just shake my head at people who treat tools like that. They are your lifeblood and they let em bash themselves senseless in back of utes or trailers. Then they wonder why they fail on them.

It looked a lot worse up close, told him it was a waste of time to even think about using a mower like that. He also had 12 customers for sale...needless to say I didn't bother.

The old 216 I bought recently looks just like that with cracks and paint off everywhere but it cuts just like a new mower - I don't know for how long though. You can't always judge a book by the cover.
