Talking of cheap gear... My Pope whipper is cheap at only $148 and works wonders! I'd easily pay double what they are charging! but don't tell em that

I wonder if pope are bringing out a combi range?

I agree simmo, you get what u pay for.................. sometimes.
I have the brand expensive gear, I have the cheap gear.
The pope whippy & blower r great value for money, so is the small ozito chainsaw.
I bought something similar to what u are proposing & it was junk!
Just try & do your homework.
Price, brand & origin dont mean as much as quality, pity we cant touch & trial everything b4 we buy.
    Cheers Fred.

I got the one Dean was selling from BBT, not sure if he still has them! but you can go direct to their website. i used it for every thing when i was starting out and didn't have much gear. now i only use it for brush cutting ferals or high hedges. The engine is really strong and never takes more then 2 pulls to start
However - you get what you pay for, had to repair the trimmer guard a couple of times, the plastic knobs on the couplings are crap so i changed them to allen head bolts and not long ago the spline snaped on the drive shaft but at $22 including shipping for the new part I'd say its its worth it! the return on investment ive got out of this is huge when i think of how many jobs its done, and thats what you need to look at.

If you need a slasher like that to do a job you probably need to mow a little more often.

Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

Not necessarily .... Not all grassed areas are pristine lawn
Just a matter of 'Horses for courses' as they say.

That slasher would be a great pickup for $700. I'd pay for itself after a couple of jobs. Great for block slashing, overgrown properties, rentals, etc
Mine gets a good workout this time of year. Properties that are put in the too hard basket for a normal mower, you can breeze through with one of these. And basically you can mark up the price a fair bit.
