Might be something to this, years ago I was told not to change the dilusion rate, its there for a reason. The reason being that if u up the strength, u can actually burn the foliage off b4 the chemical is transported to the roots therefor not killing the entire plant.
Im not sure this is correct, but thats the spiel I got .

I have worked in the Timber and hardware industry for 25 years.

10 - 15ml per litre of water (with added dishwashing liquid and some red food die ) sprayed on to NEW foliage, will kill anything. DON'T add any more than 10-15 ml, you are just wasting it.

360g/L of glosypahte (spelling?) is all you need

You can use it as a selective herbicde on banks of Ivy.
It will kill Ivy but usually only after a few repeat sprays.
Not that many ppl are that keen on Ivy though .
    Cheers Dean.

540 is 540 g/ltr of the isopropylamine salt of glyphosate.
360 is 360g/ltr of the isopropylamine salt of glyphosate.
so if you put 10ml of 540 in a litre of water you will get 5.4 gms of the isopropylamine salt of glyphosate.
if you put 10 mls of 360 in a ltr of water you will get 3.6 gms of the isopropylamine salt of glyphosate.
if you place 15 mls of 360 in a ltr of water you will get 5.4 gms of the isopropylamine salt of glyphosate.
i think if you compare the labels the mixing rates will show this with a lower recommended amount to be used of the 540 compared to the 360
also if you add a small amount of dishwashing liquid to the vegie oil and shake well it should emulsify the oil making it mix with the glypho and water better
this oil and detergent mix can also be used as white oil
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

Some thing a lot of people don't understand is that glyso is not a poison per se. It doesn't "poison" the plant but encourages it to grow at such a rapid rate it burns itself out - to put it very simply. Glyso can be used as a growth stimulant if diluted enough', and has been used as such in wholesale nurseries.
In a previous life as a contract weed eradicator for my local council, I was contracted to kill Bitou Bush. We used 360 glyso at 50:1 which killed the Bitou but not the surrounding natives. When spraying from helicopters we used it at 150:1, even 200:1.
I personally use 490 at the recommended rate, which I find seems to have a better kill rate than 360.Just my 2c worth!

Redeye where I worked as a greenkeeper which was on the coast the bitou bush was a huge problem. They use to control it by using roundup, aerial sprays in the winter and it worked really well. We use to have to cover a lot of the greens with a tarp to avoid the spraydrift.

The bitou bush is a big problem along the coast. I believe it was a plant brought in from south africa to control erosion along the coast now it is out of control. They had several trials introducing a moth and a beetle that were suppose to eat the bitou bush, but this was not successful.

Redeye i believe your right, had heard it makes the roots burst killing the plant. Being a stimulant would also explain why if it rains after you apply it the weeds grow at double the rate. Always a good look.

Found a place that sells cheap Glyphosate based poison. At least in Brisbane. Please see below for details.

Works out to be $8.25/L. I thought this was pretty cheap, please confirm!!!!!

We have available both liquid and water dispersable granule products. The granules are fully loaded with wetter and surfactant like the glyphosate 360 & 540 concentrate products and have a shorter rainfast period. We also available Glyphosate Granules with marker dye included in the granule.

    This is what we can do for you;

Glyphosate Bi-Dri Granules: 700g/kg Glyphosate Granules.
'Frog Friendly', Biactive, Aquatic registration (registered for use around waterways).

Higher strength than liquid. The active ingredient is made from 'ammonium salt of glyphosate' which is translocated through the plant faster than the glyphosate salts used in liquid concentrate formulations (quicker kill & shorter rainfast period).

Water soluble granule which completely dissolves in water. Very convenient to mix and store and no plastic drums to dispose. Glyphosate, Wetter & Aquatic Surfactant incorporated into granule (General mixing rate is 5grams per Litre water)

    10kg Carton @ $135.00 GST ex ($148.50 GST Incl.) – Each 10kg makes 2000L Glyphosate Spray

    5kg Carton (10 x 500gm packs) @ $80.00 GST ex ($88.00 GST Incl.) - Each 500gram pack makes 100L Spray (Convenient for 100L – 500L Quick Sprayers)

    750gm Carton (10 x 75gm packs) @ $40.00 GST ex ($44.00 GST Incl.) - Each 75gram pack makes 15L Spray (Convenient for knapsack sprayers)

Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide: 700g/kg Glyphosate Granules. GENERAL PURPOSE (NON AQUATIC)
Includes general purpose wetter (non-aquatic) in granule.

Glyphosate, Wetter & Surfactant incorporated into granule (General mixing rate is 5grams per Litre water)
    10kg Carton @ $120.00 GST ex ($132.00 GST Incl.) – Each 10kg makes 2000L Glyphosate Spray

    Hi-Light Blue Glyphosate 700 Granules 5kg (10 x 500gm packs) (700g/kg Glyphosate, wetter & Blue Marker Dye all in one) @ $90.00 GST ex ($99.00 GST Incl.).

The easiest option to mix and spray. Same claims & benefits as Aquatic Bi-Dri Granules + marker dye. (General mixing rate is 5grams per Litre water) - Each 500gram pack makes 100L Spray

Glyphosate 450g/L 20L @ $150.00 GST ex ($165.00 GST Incl.) - Equiv to Roundup CT.

Glyphosate 360g/L 5L @ $80.00 GST ex ($88.00 GST Incl.) – Equiv to Roundup Biactive, wetter included in Gly concentrate & aquatic registration (safe around waterways).

Glyphosate 360g/L 20L @ $150.00 GST ex ($165.00 GST Incl.) – Equiv to Roundup Biactive, wetter included in Gly concentrate & aquatic registration (safe around waterways).

Prices include free delivery to Brisbane.

Thanks for the opportunity to quote. If you have any further queries or would like to place an order, please let me know.

    http://www.elders.com.au/locator/sea...IC&se=3&q=3000

was in bunnings the other day and saw that they wanted $30 for 1 litre of 360 round up .

Def want to stay away from bunnings for anything most farming supply shops will kill them on price and usually in stronger concentrates

Landmark is also another farming shop not sure on prices but carry everything

Bunnings here has 20 litres of glypho I just can't remember the name for under $200 thats the best price I have seen. Actual roundup made by monsanto is very dear.
