    Default Honda brushcutter keeps stopping

    hey all...

thought i would quickly post my problem before i go to the repairers.

my honda brushcutter (same as UMK425 but just a few yrs old) keeps playing up, now it has been fully serviced, so all good there.

what happens is, say i start it then use it on a job, then i turn it off when the edges are done, get to the next job, it starts, but as soon as i apply throttle it just dies. if i give everything a dose of wd40 including inside the carbi, it will usually go again. for a while and out of the blu, it just looses power and stops, it's like it is running out of fuel, but it's not.

sometimes it will work fine, i put it away in the shed, next day i go to start it, it starts, than same thing, i apply throttle, and it just dies.

    any thoughts?

and Where can I obtain parts related to vehicles? There's a site like this, what do you think: Catalogue AU?

    kind regards...La H

check the spark arrester and the exhaust port also the fuel filter
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

just make sure there clear and not blocked you could try just removing the spark arrester and see if this makes a difference

This could be fuel vapourisation..When the engine is hot and shut down the fuel gets hot causing excess fuel vapour so it will start run like a hairy dog and then stop. You pump the throttle causing the plug to oil up a bit and this makes it hard to start until cooler fresh fuel gets through and once this happens it will go fine till you shut it down again.
Check your fuel lines are not lying on the cylinder bore etc.. When you shut it down add fresh fuel as this will be cool and help stop the problem. Also give it plenty of ventilation or blow air onto the engine for a minute with your blower to help cool the engine /carby down..

also check the fuel cap vent valve is working correctly if not creates a vacuum and does not allow air pressure into fuel tank to allow carb to suck fuel in.

are you using premium unleaded or unleaded fuel.

i dont advise you use premium
also make sure your filter isnt stuck at the top of the fuel container

    hey all...

well i gave it a full clean, new sparky, fuel lines/filter, and it worked perfectly !...for about 5 lawns, the it died again, like it's running out of fuel or the spark plug in fouling.

i need a new fuel cap, so i will shoot up now and get one , see if that is the issue.

    New cap help?
Not necessarily causing your problem but, when you service these ones remove the plastic engine cover and, if you have access to a compressor, blow out the clutch housing around the flywheel. (Don't breathe the dust in). I've found the clutch dust can build up enough to let the coil track to earth which makes the engine run rough. Similar symptons to a fouled plug.
