Still looking for the one all the customers ask for -
It grows to full height (2-4m depending on customer) in 6 months, but grows no bigger
Flowers year round, even in full shade
Pest proof, disease proof, drought proof
    Never needs prunning
Will grow in baking sun under the eaves of a building,
Has no desire to invade sewer or stormwater pipes
Has a 50 year plus lifespan
    costs less than $15

Just don't recall what it's name is, ( something like "Tenufolium Miraculus" I think)
    "Can't" is a dirty 4 letter word.
If someone says "Can't" , take the "T" off the end and brew it.
Sip on a mugfull, relax, and take a look at what you've got left to work with.

My favourite plants are salvias, huge variety and they are great to cook with. I like them so much I have a daughter named Sage.

Close behind are Poppies and of course Roses. By the way my other daughter is named Poppy Rose. Isn't it lucky I'm not right into cactus's.

    Cheers Rick

Poinciana in full flower is beautiful. HAd a masive one in my yard but cyclone Larry took it. Justa stump now. One of my all time favourites is Bogonvillia. Looks incredible in all its glory but obviously cant let it get away from you....I hate them then

I'm also a big fan of the frangipani, they produce those great coloured flowers and you don't have to do anything with them.

As far as exotics go I can't go past roses - get that from my late mum.
Otherwise I love everything Australian. At home I am slowly clearing out thirty-plus years of conifers etc, and slowly replacing them with indigenous species.

Golden Diosma, (at the moment) love them. There are some really good examples around here, some square cut ones and heaps of round balls etc the little flowers smell good too.

I've inherited a block of units with several and gave them all a trim for the first time last week. It was really enjoyable work.

Just be on the lookout for Scale insects on the Diosma from about January on. They can really spoil them. The damage will show up as entire stems dead. Not sure if it is a big problem down there but in Sydney they are shockers. Can also be very hard to control as well.
