Been using one of these for about 6months now, been great, I had to remove to gauze on the filter as it was blocking up alot. Since then no problems and with 60psi pump no blockages.

the shindy 15 litre sprayer is a beaut....has as impla said they spare parts and they are really easy to fix , not that you have to do that often ..
what ever you get andy make it a back pac..so easy to use especially on large areas..i do use a simple 2 litre sprayer for small garden beds , attaches to the mower and is handy for little weeds
Solo 485 served us for 5 years-now using it on our property, now running hardi 15 ltr B/pack -great "mini boom"attatchment. Just go for quality!-There was a thread running a few years ago on a "cheap" sprayer that "exploded" - full of round up-the old saying-"you get what you pay for!"-Remember YOU are the professional, leave the cheap sprayers for the domestic users-as thats what they are designed for-domestic use
I run 3 solo back pack sprayers 1 5lt solo hand held sprayer and a 25cc 40 psi 23ltr petrol Solo backpack sprayer.
Wouldnt even contemplate another brand.
You pay good money once and never have to pay again, the old saying you get what ya pay for.
Sorry guys Shindy backpacks are crap they just dont last.
Thanks everyone, i've got some shopping to do in the next few weeks.
shindy ur joking ur not using the sthil ones of all people u love sthil thought u would have had 5 of them......Originally Posted by 63impala
Hear only good reports on the solo - tuff, long lasting, availability of parts.
The best value 15Ltr knapsack I ever had was a $40 from Mitre 10 - blue with yellow cap. Lotsa different nozzles, even a twin boom if you wanted - lasted four years.
If spraying glyphosate, (and most other things) you likely want a flat fan nozzle. The misting cone nozzle is greate for spraying malathon on fruit trees, or white oil on roses, as the mist wraps around the back of the leaves/buds. A mist spray is no good with glyphposate as the mist will travel and affect other plants.
I always check to see if there is a fan nozzle in the kit - if not, I won't buy it!
When using some chemicals, such as weed'n'feed, Kamba-M, etc...it will react with parts in the sprayer and reduce it's life, so these should be cleaned out and rinsed thoroughly between uses, not stored with these chemicals.

Really should have posted this on a non-friday night, but...
Had it with my cheapo hills 15L knapsack. It wont shut off from the moment I pump it and press the trigger and I waste a heap of spray and spray things I weren't meant to. I might be over pressurizing, don't know. All I know is its the second hills knapsack to do this. I have taken it apart, fully cleaned it and reassembled it. Still played up. Have had no trouble at all with my 5L hills sprayers. Of course they is no info on the interwebs and I just can't figure out how to fix it. Anyone had this prob on any sprayer? I think I might give hills a call through the week.
Just in case I get nowhere: anyone know where to buy solo 425 profesh in southern Vic? I'm to tight to pay postage. Toyt as a toyger.

cheers bb. 2 shops sorta near me.
Another +1 for the solo diaphragm sprayer. Use mine regularly with all the nasty stuff such as simazine (seal killer) and so far its 3 years without touching it.
I dont break things ...I just use them beyond their operational limitations

Yep Solo, is the best, I also use Solo 5 litre units, you can take them totally apart and clean even inside the bottle. $59.00 is a great investment for the 5 litre solos on Ebay
