I had a similar thing happen.
Was mustering on a bike and got tangled in a coil of old plain fencing wire. It tied me up as neat as you like. Both boots were tied to the footpegs by several loops and the rest of the coil was tangled in the back wheel which tensioned it all up hard.
The bike skidded to a halt and toppled over with me still mounted.
Apart from the weight of the 600 bike on my bottom leg, both sets of toes were pulled back under the pegs towards the back wheel, so I'm on the ground near the handlebars, and the crown jewels are getting soaked in fuel from the tank.
I tried for about an hour to get my feet out of the boots, but no way.
I had a handheld UHF radio, but because I couldn't get off the ground, the other fellas in the paddock couldn't hear me. Eventually they came looking and when they got closer they heard me on the radio, but then they couldn't find me in the long grass and I couldn't see them to give directions.

They eventually picked up my track and cut me out and we were on the job again.
The cook wasn't happy for a couple of weeks after though.

When I started my apprenticeship we used to cut the greens in bare feet no kidding. It was thongs at work but they got in the way when mowing so it was bare feet. They were actually green and you couldn't wash it off. When I think about it now I realise how dangerous and stupid it was, but my boss was very old school and thats how he worked, most of the time we had a pair of shorts on and nothing else, my skin specialist loves hacking me to bits now. One thing with with bare feet you could feel the green through your feet and by just walking across you could tell how it was going to play for the day. I think I might give the steel blues a go after what you guys have said about them

Have worn Steel Blues for the last 4 years in the construction industry. The ones I still have are comfortable but not made for miles of walking.
Personally I dont see the need for a heavier steel cap boot like I currently have. Going looking for a pair of sports shoes if only mowing and general work. Steel caps in the vehicle if heavy materials involved. Spent more than 20 years in work boots and my ankles, toes and feet in general are worse the wear for it.
Something that I learnt as an apprentice.....If you wouldnt put your cock near it then for Christ sake dont put your fingers or toes near it!
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Ive worn Blunnies for ever except the Redbacks I tried. I hate the clear hard rubber sole, almost went azz up a heap of times. Went back to the Blunnie 170 and is what I would use as a bench mark.

So, I want to try SB boots. My choices are Cobar and Hobart. Cobar have kevlar stitching and is about the only difference I can see. Ive read good things about Hobart for wider feet so I dunno. Hobart's are the "contractor" and Cobar are good around chemicals.

Unless someones worn these boots this is pointless!

    Mick,
I have also been a Blunnies wearer. I have just bought a pair of Steel Blues, Hobart. They are very comfy. I got them for $135 at Hip Pocket (safety wear store). I will let you know how they wear in.

Most of the guys i come across wear sneakers for lawn mowing due to the mileage they have to cover every day.
Any type of work boot would have to slow you down due to the extra weight.
I really don’t see the need for work boots for lawns.

You'd have to be drugged out for that to happen or on the turps.

Problem I have always had with the Steel Blues is blowing out the toes and exposing the steelcap. About 3 months is all I'd get out of them before wearing through. Different industry now though and less time spent on my knees. Will be looking at the Steel Blue sports shoe styles.
In 2 minds as to whether or not to continue with steel caps though. 1. I'd like a lighter shoe if I'm walking so much more ....but 2. After having worn steel caps for more than 20 years I have the habit of kicking things with them, resting heavy things on them so as to retain a handhold under things or breaking the fall of dropped objects.....thats going to hurt if I forget.

You could try Ascent "work boots you can run in" is the slogan http://www.ascentfootwear.com.au/sigma.html

They use a fiberglass safety toe which supposedly meets the same Aus standards for steel caps. I have had two pairs first pair lasted 12 months and were great second pair I only got 6 months out of which was disapointing.

    nice and light and comfy

I'm a bit different also I should mention. Boots are bloody heavy because they are size 13-14.
I'm a clown in more ways than one....

EDIT....for interest sake I just stuck the work boots on the kitchen scales....1.2kg a piece. 2.37kg for the pair. VS the adidas runners at 812g for the pair! No wonder I'm knackered at the end of a long day.
