Long Long ago in a thread far far away from this one someone once asked....
"The old boots are up for renewal soon just wondering what boot everyone else uses was blundstone but wonder if there is a better boot for around say $50 - $100.. Mabe some that don`t crack when wet and dry on & off.. "

Everybody, including myself have given opinion, but all are redundant because this poor fella is running around in bare feet waiting for a decent answer.
Silly bugger should have realised that every know it all would spend more than $1.20 putting in their 2c worth and just headed down to his local shoe store and got whatever he felt comfortable with.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Seems like we're duplicating the other topic here but I'll put my thoughts forward again. My latest boots are a brand called Mongrels. I put a link to them in the other topic earlier in the year. The cost was up around $150 but they are the comfiest and most supportive workboots I've owned. They are a black leather steel cap. They are lace-up but also have a zip in the side so you can slip them on and off. They weigh about 890 grams per boot.

As for looking after your toes and the arguement about wearing sneakers; anyone who has had the mower blades put a nice cut across the top off the steel-cap will just shake their head and laugh at anyone who suggests anything other than steel-caps. It happened to me and I'm one of the most careful blokes around.

Some of my clients expect al my guys to have steel caps on and one of them even used to send there staff member out to check steel caps. in this day and age better to have all the safety gear then if something happens you can say i did all i can other wise it might be a bit hard to convince bubba to wear protection when hes bending you over the cell bunk.

They are good value and I normally buy an extra pair of innersoles to throw in them at about the 6 month mark.

As for wearing sneakers when mowing for a living, you would have to be insane. It's not worth the risk. Apart from the safety aspect and the look of being professional with wearing boots, when mowing damp grass wouldn't your sneakers be soaked by the end of the 1st job?

I'm definately due for a new pair of boots. After having a big day of push mowing and ending up with blood blisters under two of my toes about half way through the day, I dont want to put it off any longer. I have always had redbacks but don't think they are as comfortable as when I first started buying them about 15 or more years ago.

The guys wearing blue steel boots, have you noticed any difference in the make of them lately? Are they still as comfortable these days in a world where everything seems to be getting made cheaper?

I would be happy to spend $200 -$300 for a pair of boots that are comfortable, hard wearing and safe. Plus where do you get them?

few years ago totally work wear had them. They are still listed on their site.

What type are light, as well as comfy hardwearing etc. Redbacks can be a bit heavy by the end of the day!!

Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
