i got me a pair of Mongreel boots with the zippers seem nice , will seen how they go tomorrow and friday .
Tried on the mongrel zipsiders.. my left big toe is hard up against the toecap, and yes it was with the half (wide) size. The shops is getting in the steel blue and Oliver zipsides to see if they fit me better. They are $50 dearer than the mongrels, so its a mongrel alright.
Looking forward to not have to unlace every time I come inside.. must be getting lazy..

But if you aint ''STIHL'' you aint real....
My pair of Oliver boots http://drsindustries.rtrk.com.au/?scid=18846&kw=4187073 which cost about $150 6 mnths ago and took 2 weeks and many bandaids to "break in" just got a major blowout on the side.
Im very dissapointed...they were supposed to be super tough. Used in the coal mines up here in the hunter..
Looks like i'll go back to steel blue's. Best boot i've tried so far.

Hi guys just wanted to update you guys on my Mungrel boots well i have had them since 2/11/2011 , so far i have slipped over around four times and thrown my back out all times and still trying to get it fixed at the chiro's . these boots are the most slippery boots i have ever owned when it has or is raining . Also today i thought i could feel something poking me in the right hand side heal . so when i got home i took a look at the boot and the plastic heal stiffener is starting to crumble away . What a waste of $160 . These are the Boots Mongrel sp zipsiders 251020 . Signed Not happy .
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you
Mine have been going strong for nearly 12 months, worn every day and apart from the leather being ingrained with dirt they are as good as new except for some wear to the removable/replaceable insoles.
The inner heel area in mine looks good still too.
They do get a bit slippery under foot but only very occasionally depending on surface and slope.
Mine are the 261020. Same boot, just not as tall.
Mine are were comfy as , not complaining about the comfort . I sent them a Email last week no reply so far , maybe there still closed for holidays . Thinking of taking them back to the safety shop i got them from and see what they say , or if they can send them back to them .
I remember when I bought mine the guy said "Yeah you probably should get about twelve months out of them."
I thought to myself two years + would be better. So far so good. I forget what the warranty on them is though and what it actually covered.
Oliver 65's great boot. Infact its 11.45 and I still have them on now.
Well i got a email back from Mongrel boots basically said they passed the tests so pretty mush bad luck , he went on about they would be slippery when on a slope on wet grass , but i didnt have problems on the grass it was when i stepped onto the road to put the mower back on the trailer . have sent him anther email telling him about the heal stiffener crumbling as well but i really think they couldnt give a **** . he went on to tell me i should look at the mongrel spr series boots thay have a different sole rubber . I' thinking no chance and i have bought anther brand of boot to try out . Have a good week end Guys and gals
Oliver's are great and mine copped a real flogging and passed the test..But they took a long time to break in till they stopped giving away free blisters..once broken in they were great.. but..I purchased steel blue boots this season and they are comfy from the getgo a lot lighter and are cheaper and last just as long....easy choice..http://www.steelblue.com.au/steel-bl...struction.aspx

steel blues
i've gotten about 3 years so far from 2 pairs (eg use one pair morning one pair afternoon so they can dry out)
the oldest pair (3 yrs) the heel thing like you said is just starting to wear a fair bit.
but very very comfy (lace up ones)
will be buying exact same boot again
i think if you over use them when they are wet you will bugger em up quicker, you gotta let em dry back out before you use em again, and using just one pair, they never dry out full imo.
the second pair is wearing great now i only wear em of a morning, and dry em out in the sun in the arvo etc.
cheers
