Default Self propelled mower with Honda engine

    Hi everybody,
on Saturday I work few jobs in Mornington and when I going from there I stop in Bayside mower shop there for check what self propelled mower they have, and the seller/owner show me some catalog with this mower http://cgi.ebay.com.au/21-honda-lawn...item2eaeb25cf8

And he say to me this is same mower like Honda 216, but only they not write Honda name on it, and he say that same parts come on it like on the Honda. And I ask him for price he told me around $1200... he don't know that same mower I can buy on eBay for around $800.
Now my question would any body buy this mower for yourself? Thanks

Dont know about the s/p honda on ebay, but i bought a honda196 look a like from ebay and motor is a honda with the rest being a close copy of honda base with some good & bad changes - time will tell with the base. With the self propelled the deciding factor may be if the gear box is original or a copy as this is critical with a selp propelled mower & they can be expensive.
    Hope that helps!

That link is to my local shop, he (Andrew) sells a fair few of them, so someone's obviously buying them. I've had a look over them and they are clearly not the genuine article, open the shoot on the 196 version and have a look. As for buying one... I don't know, which usually means no. I do buy a bit of gear from him though.

    think agrmachinery on ebay
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

I bought this one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....=STRK:MEWAX:IT the Honda motor RRP is $575.00, so the rest of the mower was almost free. I haven't had it long enough to see how it will go but overall the build quality seems as good as the original. It seems a bit big and cumbersome for some jobs so I guess I will still need a small push mower as well, I might just repower one of my old Masports. I don't do much push mowing, 95% of my work is ride on so I coudn't justify $1600.00+ for the genuine article. I'll keep the forum posted if there is any problems.
