Don't you love going to your mowing jobs just after a fencer has been! Especially when after you have cleaned the nails up you find one sticking out of your catcher!

"Success occurs when no one is looking, failure occurs when everyone is watching."
Yeah basically after any tradies I have to cleanup. I tried once to tell client if Tradie did not cleanup i would not mow, she said ok I will find someone else. Tradies think that because they are on $70 to $120 per hour people wont pay for them to cleanup. Clients think because we charge less that we can cleanup. I add extra to the bill and no one has whinged yet.
I have had a run of following tree loppers onto jobs of late, and they are as bad as tradies. If I had a quote from someone to do a job, I would expect the site to be left the way they find it. Don't know why people let them get away with it.
Grumpy...
Spending about 6 phone calls back and forth to organise a final mow for rental customer.
Take half an hour out of my day last Friday to go and quote the job.
Finalise details with customer at 8.20 last night.
Re-arrange my schedule for today to fit the job in.
Spend 20 minutes driving across town today to get there and find that someone else has been in and done the job....
its happend to me a few times mate, it sucks But the bloke mowing the lawn is in the same boat, he didnt know someone else was comming, Last time this happend i took my whipper snipper out pretending to work, then walked upto him and told him i have already been paid for the job, last bloke walked out, when he left i put my whipper snipper back in the van and left
This happens every wet season up here in NQ. When the monsoon comes in and drenches the place you can't do a damn thing, you get people ringing up wanting their lawn done in the middle of torrential rain, when the rain finally does go away I have a massive back log of work to catch up on and some selfish so and so's think that their lawn will be first cab off the rank.
I had one customer booked in for Monday but it was pouring with rain so I couldn't do it, he rang me up in the middle of a down pour and said "When are you coming?" I said that you will just have to wait till the rain goes away so that I can do it without getting wet and catching a cold. He said that "It's just that the land lord is on to me" So I said, well tell your land lord that if he wants it done sooner he can mow it in the rain himself.
Jeez do these people think that I can control the weather or something ?
Everybody is entitled to MY opinion
Found out what happened.... The mother-in-law got involved without telling the son-in-law whom I'd been dealing with. I think the she thought she was doing them a favour but S.I.L sounded pretty peeved that she'd stuck her nose in.
Sad thing was they'd paid me $100 that night, deposited into my account before I'd even done the job. I've since refunded this to them.
Be interesting to find out what the contractor was paid though. The footpath and small front courtyard were done okay but the backyard was done with a ride-on, most edges were half done, grass clumps all over the place (and the grass wasn't even that long) but the worst thing was the machine must have been a heel-toe forward-reverse ride-on as there was wheel tracks and muddy streaks everywhere in the yard from spinning wheels... Looked horrible especially given it was an upmarket address.
for years i always wear a hat and smother plus 30 in the sun an never get burnt ( being a red head makes it easy ) well me and the Mrs went to see Franky J and Wilbur for an out door concert no hat no sunscreen and burnt to a cinder ..three days later still red faced and sore......grumpy as...moral of story wear a hat and sunscreen i guess well for blue like me hahaha
not bragging but in melbourne we normally have a easy mow for autumn, well this year in my area is the pitts ,the grass is growing like springtime and some customers want weekly service...nice though but getting a big backlog of work and when buggerlugs here wants to have a day off now and then makes it difficult lol
