went to quote on a 'clean up' at an emptied lot the other day. builders rubble, pulled out stumps etc all over the place. rang the owner up , asked him when he had last seen it as it was more than a bit of whippersnipping. he lives away and hadnt seen it in years. asked me to quote on getting it all shifted. i said yep and offered to send photos as the house removalists were meant to have cleaned up the block.

got a text today saying that the owner had found someone to clean up the rubble. i said no worries but please keep me in mind for the grass management.he said consider it done. so off i went feeling that i done the right thing and would get a customer out of it.

until this arvo and i saw one of the other lawnies whipper snippering it.

the lying bloody mongrel beep beep beep

One of my carry over casuals from the previous owners sends a text asking for her vacant block to be done a couple of weeks ago. I rang the previous owner and he said he charged her $80. I went and did it......some of the grass was 5ft high, took me three mows and nearly 2 hours. Today I get a text "XXXX used to charge me $80 if it was long or $60 otherwise.....can you do it for that" I sent one back saying "if it's done regularly and thus kept under control I can do it for $60. The last time I did it it took 2 hours, 3 mows and I still wasn't happy with the finish, added to that it's extremely hard on the machinery. To be honest if it's not done regularly I'm not really that interested in doing it.....to hard on the gear.....if you're going to leave it that long you really need a tractor mounted slasher. Let me know what you want to do"......haven't heard back. She has paid for last time though so I guess I can't complain.

next time you get a job like that try using the whipper snipper only.. its way faster and most ppl only want the block 'slashed'. (will leave a better cut than a mower as not missing bits anyway)

Spewing! Don't people have the decency to check when the Dogs are playing before deciding on a date for their parties? haha. I made the mistake of getting married during July, so far a State of Origin game has clashed twice with our anniversary. It takes a lot of spadework to get a leave pass for that one. The Mrs isn't a footy fan.

Come on Courty 'Mate' and 'Manly fan' shouldnt be in the same sentence.

They better at least have the games on and make sure they do the speeches between games or at halftime.
Actually I missed the Dogs/St Merge game in round 2 cause it was my daughters 3rd birthday and the Mrs invited some relos over . I have to dodge a few bullets actually cause 3/4 of my kids birthdays are during the footy season as well as the Mrs birthday and our anniversary. We didn't plan very well did we? My first son was born during State of Origin game 2 2004 where Slater scored 'that' try off Lockyer's kick. I had to wait a few days before I could even watch a replay. I kept telling the Mrs in the weeks leading up to the birth, if he comes during the game she's on her own. So what does he do?????

2minutes after getting out of bed it starts to rain and when you look at the radar you can see that it hasn't rained all night but it's now going to rain for a couple of hours
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

Ok not so much grumpy as gobsmacked, incredulous, astounded and left shaking my head at the sheer stupidity of some of our legislation.

My 11 year old daughter likes to help when we go shopping, I use the self serve registers when only grabbing a few things. She likes to do that bit. Scan the shopping, bag it and pay for it. I gave her cash (it's more fun to plug the cash in than use EFTPOS apparently). While she does this I wait out of the register area.

One of the items in today's shopping was a pack of 12 plastic knives. You know the sort that bend/break at a BBQ on a well done snag? Anyway the staff member comes running over to her and says she can't buy them. I come over and ask why not, she will be paying for the shopping and is not stealing anything.

    The answer.

    Seriously....

Legislation in Victoria to prevent the sale of controlled weapons (knives) to children under the age of 18, includes all types of knives...bread and butter and even plastic knives! Apparently they can be fined up to $2300 for doing so and have a store policy of asking for ID for anyone who looks under 25 and wants to purchase a humble bag of plastic knives.

    WTF?!?

Is it any wonder kids have trouble coping in the real world? So if you have a 17 year old off to the big smoke to go to uni, you will either have to purchase their cutlery for them or they'll have to live on Mac 'n' Cheese and tinned soup until they turn 18.

Lets not allow the stupidity to end there. Surely all plastic cutlery can be used as a weapon. You could take an eye out with a placcy fork...and don't get me started on sporks!

    Still shaking my head.

The logo on bottom of Vic number plates should read (they left of the word 'fined')!

Victoria - the place to be fined

Always makes me laugh at this one Jo. You cannot use a plastic knife on a plane but you can take a bottle of wine as carry on. Guaranteed to do more damage with a bottle than with a plastic knife......

What are they going to do with the new series of Junior Master Chef when they have to cut up the vegies and meat etc ? Will they have to get someone over the age of 18 to do all the cutting for them ?
