I have given up on wearing gloves when pruning roses, I find that I tend to bet a bit more careful without them and end up better off. I did about 30 this afternoon and what will be the last of my regular clients tomorrow and probably a bit the next day as well(about 90 of them).

Sounds like me. Chiro and Physio once a week at the moment. Too many old injuries from Athletics and Grade Cricket coming back to haunt me as I age!

People who txt you because they haven't got the stones to ring you and tell you they no longer need your services. I have been off for four weeks recovering from some surgery on my hip, can't wait to get back into it, four weeks no money not good. Anyway I told my customers what was going on and they were all cool. Then today I get a txt message from one that I have been doing for about three years, saying she hopes I am feeling better and that she has got someone else to do her lawns and gardens, then she said she asked the lady aross the road who I also service if she would like the new guy to do hers to, how nice of her. Anyway the old dear across the road is sticking with me I have been doing her lawn for about 12 years. Txt messaging the spineless way out, if I am going to flick someone I ring them and tell em

Think on the bright side mate. Your shot of her. And if the new bloke doesnt work out she will come back to you and you can put your price up by $15 and watch her face

I had a good one this week. Guy I've been chasing for months over $530 unpaid.

Since he made a $50 payment at the start of March I have left two notes in letterbox, business card with note in front door (3 times), 5 unanswered phone calls and 2 formal letters of demand mentioning debt collection (sent by registered post and signed for).

Yesterday morning I had a message left on my phone from him, as I had left another card in his front door the afternoon before.

Made me so mad - he said, "I got your card. Wondering where you've been? Call me."

No mention at all of the money he still owes me. I'm in two minds whether to ring back him or still send the bill to collections as I intended.

Got a new customer the other day (actually I got three in the same street.....but that's for the happy thread).....a little old lady of 82 who looked terrified when I knocked on her door (her son gave me the job). The yard was a mess. I'm about halfway through the job and a woman in her 40s pulls up to take Mavis down the street to pay some bills. She comes over for a chat and I find out the son is a drug dealer who deal drugs from his mother's house.....hence the terrified expression.....she's constantly getting the local dropkicks coming round to buy drugs off her son......who is too lazy to mow the lawns. The reason they got so bad in the first place was the son sacked the previous guy, said his mate would do it, and took the mowing money from his mother to buy drugs. Apparently he's had the mother's bankbook confiscated so I am to mow on pension day and she'll pay me. I feel really sorry for the old lady.....she's really quite sweet.....as for the dropkick son......grrrrrrrr.
