The cops were nice about it and all thats not the problem. The problem is the $1400 fine attached. WTF this really sh*ts me off to no end. We are normal law abiding citizens and make one simple mistake and instead of being nicely told and punished for a simple mistake we get handed a ridiculous overstated fine.

The fine is worth more than the car!

THIS IS BLATANT MONEY RAISING BY THE LABOUR GOVT!

Just because they waste tax payers money on things we simply do not need and give themselfs pay rises and put our state in a huge debt whilst everyone else is struggling DOESNT MEAN THAT THEY CAN JUSTIFY A RIDICULOUS RISE IN FEES AND FINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

Take off the extra $1000 and the left over $400 is reasonable.

I think ill be charging $250 an hour now because apparently we can charge what ever we want.
The fact is that she drove an unregistered vehicle which is against the law. It is the drivers responsibility to be aware of things like that. What would the cost be if she had caused a major accident resulting in millions of dollars of damage in an unregistered vehicle not covered by 3rd party property damage....or any insurance for that matter? Who would pay for that? These laws are there for a reason and what makes me grumpy is people who think they don't apply to them!

Yeah I agree, we made a mistake fine us, but not bloody 1400!!!!!!! Save that for the pricks who do it on purpose for 6 months or more, why should we pay for labors fu+k ups, and everyone knows that they put the fines up to balance their budget. I bet that everyone on here doesn't check there trailer lights and car lights, Tyre pressures and treads, windscreen wipers and fluid,................everytime before you drive your car........and that would be 10 plus times a working day. If you had a broken taillight and you're u didn't know and they fined you, do u think the new $250 fine is fair or the old $20 fine.......... Everybody makes similar let mistakes, why she those people be fined for a govts big major fu+k ups......

I agree in this day and age with computers there should be no problems in knowing how many offences either a driver or car have had and the fines should be given with regard to this ie: you have no offences registered against you then your given a warning or a low fine if you have offences then the fine goes up in proportion to the no.of offences registered against you
Anything Ian says may or may not be garbage, it may also be his own opinion or it may not be his opinion at all, it may just be something he felt like stating anyone following his advice does so at their own risk and may be doing something Ian would actually advise against.
And if you don't like what Ian has to say use the ignore function if you don't know how ask i will gladly tell you

Yeah sure. This bloke was 4 times over the blood alcohol limit and was doing 100km/h in a school zone when he killed those 4 kids at the pedestrian crossing. Oh but he's never done it before and has a perfect driving record. Just give him a warning. No worries.

i think there might be a slight difference between i didn't think/remember to check the rego label/ tail lights on the car and i didn't think to check if i was over .05 after drinking a bottle of scotch but i take it you're advocating a $1000 fine for going 5 k's over the speed limit and the same fine for going 50 k's over also i think you will find that the fine at least in Vic for being twice the legal limit is not as high as SM got for not having registered the car and both these will negate your insurance

I got hit $1100+ for exactly the same thing here in Qld in about 1999, so it's nothing new and not unique to the SA labor govt.
They should let you pay it off in installments over a period of time.

Although the fine does seem a little excessive.......do the crime, do the time. A mate of mine in NSW drove 100 metres from his house to his mate's while disqualified, got busted lost his license for 5 years under the "habitual offender" rule......3 offences in 3 years (one .055, and two driving while disqualified). He's not bitter, he accepts he did the wrong thing.

Yeah blacktop that's kinda my point. Everyone knows the rules. Don't break em and you don't get fined.

I've had that happen twice at the start of big lawns. Now I have about 5 spares.

Scored a new client about a month ago....previous contractor was "unreliable" in that they hadn't seen him for a couple of months over winter. Client happens to be two doors down the road from home. I was in my back yard yesterday and I heard a whippy.....stuck my head out the gate and there's the "old" contractor mowing "my" lawn. Waited until the customer came home and went over and asked if they actually let the previous contractor know his services were no longer required......"ummmm, no, we just thought he'd stopped coming".....lol.
