Luckily it's all got insurance.....so I'm in the Falcon and dropping the wife off to work at 6.45 first......and picking her up at 5.00......there goes my "pick my own hours" for a while. Cop said I'll probably get a ticket for failing to maintain distance.....the car at the back is always in the wrong, regardless of any stupidity further up the line. Not sure if they'll write the ute off or fix it.
    Another angle,

I was 320k away from home two yrs ago with my elderly dad as my mother was going pass away that night or the next day or the next . Sleep was something that was little at the time.

My daughter 320k's away rings me at 12.30am in July to say she has had a bad prang and she and the other driver are OK, both P platers.
On a dark unlight semi rural road in very heavy rain she does a right turn and collects head on in 60k posted road a driver heading straight through in pouring rain. This car had no lights on and the driver signed a letter saying I'm so sorry and I had no lights on. Long story and RACV said my daughter was at fault for turnung right even though weather records show it was pouring that night too.

Got to sleep about 4.00am that night after speaking to cops via mobile, so rules are not fair in some situations.

Good to here your Ok Blaktop
    Cheers Garry

Not necessarily..years ago I drove in to the back of a car that stopped suddenly at a paedestrian crossing, The police came out to my house after the event to interview me about what happened and after I explained that the people crossing were walking their dog off leash and it from the footpath towards my car and as I was trying to see where it went the woman in front slammed on her brakes and I...didn't. They decided I was taking due care with life (it doesn't just apply to human life) and I didn't end up with a careless driving charge.

So maybe they will listen to an explanation?

    The Reply

Basically when they build new ATO buildings there is no customer service counter anymore and no real contact for customer interaction anymore. Unless a formal interview is required and we have an interview room for such matters.
All personal contact is to be made at Centrelink.

I said I've had the experience of visiting Centrelink for the first time recently on behalf of my 89yr old father. I will never set foot back into Centrelink if I can help it. They can't deal with Centrelink issues effectively from a staffing point of view (All due respect to their staff who have deal with understaffing and grumpy customers) let alone deal with the extra ATO matters dumped on them now. I'll post the BAS now, Thanks

I said to the ATO that I had another issue in that out of the last 5 BAS issues only one has been sent to me and the 4 other were submitted on old photocopy forms. Guess what, they couldn't help me with that. I would have to lodge a new complaint. I said not to worry as I have tried and tried and written lettters and submitted such with each BAS return and nothing happens.

Now I'll go and get a beer and enjoy Friday arvo
Are you saying that now if we want to do something with the tax office we have to go to centrelink.

Had one like that on Wednesday from some stranger. Must have been a rental inspection.

The message was at 8.45am on my FB page which I only saw when I checked at lunch at 12.30pm. "Could you mow my lawn by 1pm today?" No sorry - next week maybe.

feel like we're getting ripped off much

^ Exactly. The Stihl MS261 I was looking at getting recently - $1249 here (best I could get was about $50 off that) vs $780 shipped from California.

Not in all cases, just depends if they have updated your local regional building to remove shopfront type customer desks in the entry foyer. But over time there will be no customer service desk or pamplets for customers. You will use Centrelink and que up and que up and que up and walk out.

Attached is the ATO web page and I have shown QLD's home page, but on the right side of page you can click any state. Soo customer friendly - NOT!!!!!

It might sound like a whinge for you poor guys who aren't getting any rain but for five weeks straight I haven't been able to get my own lawns done. Got the backyard mowed on Friday morning before I left to do client's' jobs but didn't do the edges.

Just started out on my footpath and front lawn; Got the edges done then bingo - it starts pouring rain again. 15 minutes later it has stopped but now it's too wet to mow again.......
